To think end of August isn't Urgent?

Posting here for traffic.

About 8 weeks ago I hurt my arm lifting bags of compost in the garden. I felt a 'pop' but initially I didn't think much of it, and thought I'd just pulled a muscle. The pain got worse, not better, and my function was (and is) very limited.
I relented 3 weeks ago and called the GP. They asked me to go down and see them which I did, and after a call to Orthopaedics was sent to the hospital that day.
Saw Orthopaedics who booked me into the fracture clinic a few days later.

Saw the consultant last week in the fracture clinic, who did various tests. It's highly likely I've ruptured my bicep tendon at the shoulder, and will need surgery to repair it. She said she was referring me for an urgent ultrasound scan within 2 weeks, and then back to see her to discuss the next steps.

I hadn't heard about my scan appointment so today I called the hospital just to check I hadn't missed an appointment letter. I was advised by the ultrasound department that they're currently booking urgent appointments for the end of August.......

I totally appreciate things are strained with Covid at the moment, but the end of August for an urgent scan is so depressing. I can't do anything with my arm. I can't wash my hair, tie my hair up, or even put a bra on. My children have to help me put clothes on every day, and I struggle to sleep as it's so painful. I also spoke to my uncle who's an orthopaedic consultant in another part of the country, who said that the longer the tendon is left without repair, the harder it will be to regain full mobility in my arm. I'm 40, I play and coach sport in my spare time, and I'm worried that the damage will be irreparable by the time it's sorted.

I'm now debating finding the funds to pay to have the scan privately in order to speed up the process. I guess I'm just in pain, and frustrated at my inability to function like a normal person at the moment.

YANBU. If they thought you had broken a bone you would be likely to have the x ray on the same day - or at least within a couple of days if the area is swollen. I'm not sure why a scan (which is effectively also a 'picture' of what is inside your body) ought to have such a longer waiting list, especially when the indication is that the longer it goes untreated, the poorer the chances of full recovery are.
