Face masks and shopping

For me shopping on the high street now is a quite a depressing and anxiety ridden experience. You queue to get into the each shop for 10 minutes, then anti had had to be slathered on hands and it be has made my skin peel on my fingers, I was told loudly by shop staff to follow the arrows on the floor and not to touch the clothes unless absolutely neccessary. Supermarkets are nearly as bad. Now with many people (all from 24th July) wearing masks people nervously dart out of the way of you with fear in their eyes ...mainly middle aged or older people .you can't see the rest of their face behind the mask..Is this how we are supposed to live for the next year or two before a vaccine is found...if one is found? I must say that cafes and pubs are populated by less nervous people and are bit more relaxing to go to. I'm doing most of my shopping online now for everything and just one trip to the supermarket. I'm sure many people's mental health will be affected by this if these measures are in place for a year or two.

I've also been shopping in a Scottish city centre today and there were only two people I saw who were not wearing masks properly. On the whole, people have adapted well to masks.

I have driven in a face mask, first time was when I was really insure of how to put it on and so did it in the house before driving around to the shop. Second time was leaving supermarket and driving a few minutes to a pet store - didn't fancy storing it securely on the journey or having to use a new one.
If that added hilarity to someone's otherwise empty life, so be it.

Strange. Weve all been wearing masks for 4 months now and havent experienced anything like op described.

I only take it off at home or if eating or drinking

But as the uk has more daily deaths than weve had in total with similar populations, im sure antimaskers know what theyre doing

I need to practice my fearful darting, since I'm 52. Might give my three teens a good laugh.

But seriously... Masks are no big deal. The evidence is there to support their use. We will all just have to change the way we live and work.

I went into a large town centre Tesco today and wore my mask as its a rule and Im worried about passing on the virus to elderly mother.
The security man on the door wasn't wearing one
the shop assistant helping with self checkout wasn't either
Apparently staff don't have to.
This is a university town and there were quite a few young men not wearing masks , probably not students but as the checkout assistant was helping them to sort out basket it looks like spreading the virus this autumn will be quite hard to stop
