Complaint about a zombie post of mine

Chefwifelife · 15/07/2020 19:06

I had an email from MN report team today to inform me that a post of mine from June 2019 has been reported as possible libel for defamation.

I’ve read the post several times and stand by the post as honest. I’ve informed MN that I don’t want the post deleted.

I can see today that several of the posts by other members on the thread have been deleted.

I was intrigued if there were similar posts on Mumsnet so Googled this company and found that a few days ago there quite an unpleasant exchange on Trust Pilot with a customer who had left a negative review about them.

AIBU to stand by my original (ancient) post or should I just be done with it and delete it? I don’t want to feel bullied into removing an honest post asking for others experiences.

Has anyone been in this situation?

FYI MN have been great throughout.

Objected*

MasterStef · 15/07/2020 22:18

@Chefwifelife did you ever find out what happened with the woman supposedly crashing into your car?!

Chefwifelife · 15/07/2020 22:19

@MasterStef nope not one peep from her. I always think about it when I drive past that junction though.

[quote Binglebong]I wonder if they are injecting to you mentioning they wavered the restocking fee - since they haven't been allowed to have one since 2014. Naughty naughty to charge it!

That’s interesting....there’s a well known online bike shop which charges a £60 restocking fee for returned bikes!

TicketToTheWrongFilm · 15/07/2020 22:28

@picklemewalnuts

If Emma Green is on here... your review's been hidden!
I assume (I don't know) that two people from here have just written reviews, which is pretty poor form IMO. They weren't there an hour ago.
FATEdestiny · 15/07/2020 22:30

What's the Barbara Streisand effect?

namechange30000 · 15/07/2020 22:30

I can't find the post

Binglebong · 15/07/2020 22:31

Report them Jacob. It's been around long enough that there really is no excuse.

Mintychoc1 · 15/07/2020 22:31

Nor me

excuseforfights · 15/07/2020 22:33

@FATEdestiny I think it's when you apply for a gagging order/injunction that becomes notorious because you tried to hush it up. I think the term was coined when Barbara Streisand did it.

dementedpixie · 15/07/2020 22:33

They are going against distance selling rules by saying they don't accept returns either. And the original postage costs should be refunded too.

AnneElliott · 15/07/2020 22:34

They've shot themselves in the foot here surely! I'd never heard of them before but now would ensure I wouldn't buy and would mention it to other people in RL too.

Yep. C'mon people. You're making it harder for both the OP and Mumsnet if you fuel the fire. You haven't bought the product so don't abuse Trustpilot.

Catforaheadrest · 15/07/2020 22:37

@TicketToTheWrongFilm

I suppose the company name could be said to have a double meaning Grin
Haha! Spot on!
ArriettyJones · 15/07/2020 22:38

The way they are sitting on that trust pilot page, ready to jump in and report any disobliging review...it’s not a good look.

The limitation period to bring a defamation claim is a year after first publication.

I agree that it doesn’t look great, but you don’t know that they haven’t bought the product. It could just as easily be that past customers have been prompted by this thread to record their opinion.

(I haven’t left a review, just to be clear. Nothing to do with me. I’m just speculating.)

dementedpixie · 15/07/2020 22:41

Do they remove every post that isn't 5 stars? Shameful

LinemanForTheCounty · 15/07/2020 22:42

Wow, that reply to the remaining one star review on trustpilot 😮😮😮 berating her for writing a review "on a Sunday" 😮😮😮

Justjoshin22 · 15/07/2020 22:44

I’ve had a look at your old post, just out of curiosity. Agree with the above, I hadn’t heard of them before but now I’ve read this I wouldn’t buy from them and will mention to people in RL too.

@InTheWings

Trust Pilot Review: Product: MN Users.

I am a big fan of MNers, they are a mix of funny, shrewd, rude and experienced. Most are kind. But some seem to show a slight malfunction when in 'find a thread' mode. Can they be turned on and off again before inputting the following function commands:

To find the original thread:
Go to Advance Search.
Put in the OP's username in the box
Go to the dates and search from June 1st 2019 to July 1st 2019 - since the OP clearly says on this thread when she posted.
Clue: it isn't a Conception or Health or Pregnancy thread.

Three Stars.

Wish mine did that on the iPhone app. Instead I get every single post the username has commented on.
LockdownQ · 15/07/2020 22:50

Has your thread been deleted now? It's not showing on advanced search, just pregnancy and conception ones.

Redhair23 · 15/07/2020 22:50

Don’t give in to this bullying, a lot of companies do it and unfortunately lots of people give in to the pressure.

JacobReesMogadishu · 15/07/2020 22:50

They’ve already reported the recent reviews and are trying to get them removed, currently greyed out. They keep a very close eye on trustpilot!
