Complaint about a zombie post of mine

Chefwifelife · 15/07/2020 19:06

I had an email from MN report team today to inform me that a post of mine from June 2019 has been reported as possible libel for defamation.

I’ve read the post several times and stand by the post as honest. I’ve informed MN that I don’t want the post deleted.

I can see today that several of the posts by other members on the thread have been deleted.

I was intrigued if there were similar posts on Mumsnet so Googled this company and found that a few days ago there quite an unpleasant exchange on Trust Pilot with a customer who had left a negative review about them.

AIBU to stand by my original (ancient) post or should I just be done with it and delete it? I don’t want to feel bullied into removing an honest post asking for others experiences.

Has anyone been in this situation?

FYI MN have been great throughout.

Really painting themselves as a company not to trust in my opinion!

Chefwifelife · 15/07/2020 21:01

I just wanted to thank everyone for their replies. As with any posts on MN you have to be open to people disagreeing with you of which I was fully prepared for. It seems that actually you’ve all just made me feel much better about wanting to stand by my post.

@InTheWings

Trust Pilot Review: Product: MN Users.

I am a big fan of MNers, they are a mix of funny, shrewd, rude and experienced. Most are kind. But some seem to show a slight malfunction when in 'find a thread' mode. Can they be turned on and off again before inputting the following function commands:

To find the original thread:
Go to Advance Search.
Put in the OP's username in the box
Go to the dates and search from June 1st 2019 to July 1st 2019 - since the OP clearly says on this thread when she posted.
Clue: it isn't a Conception or Health or Pregnancy thread.

Three Stars.

Very good Grin

I was wondering why so many posters said they couldn't find it after my instructions thread,

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 15/07/2020 21:02

and have def said clearly too many times

Chefwifelife · 15/07/2020 21:03

Oh man please don’t everyone read about my trials and tribulations with conception Blush I’m sure you’ll all be thrilled to know I’m due with baby number 2 in just over 6 weeks Grin

Congratulations on the imminent baby OP!

And the company in question are being ridiculous. You've said nothing at all wrong.

DirtyTicket · 15/07/2020 21:05

I'd never heard of that company before now. I had a look at the Trustpilot reviews and the company's response - very unprofessional. They've certainly not helped their cause - I'm aware of them now and wouldn't order from them.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/07/2020 21:12

The way some companies respond to fair negative reviews seems to mirror the way some MNers respond to their threads on AIBU.

OP: Walking in the park today, I reached into a newborn baby's pram, when her DM had turned away for a moment. I stole and ran off with her teddy and made her cry, just because I was bored and thought it would be a bit of a laugh. AIBU?
All of MN: "YABVVVVVVVU - that was a genuinely nasty thing to do."
OP: "Waaaaahhhh!!! You're all ganging up on me. I'm going to get this thread removed."
Deletion Notice: "This thread has been removed to protect the OP, who has serious concerns about repercussions as the angry baby concerned has recognised her IRL and is now on this thread."

user1573957284738 · 15/07/2020 21:14

I wasn't going to mention it but now you've brought it up... Congratulations Grin

OneForMeToo · 15/07/2020 21:14

I didn’t like that thread. Far to many oh my times far to important type comments 🤢. I agree what you got plus having to pay return costs was shambolic. Let it stand.

artyandtarty · 15/07/2020 21:14

Absolute bell ends as all they have done now is draw more attention to them selves Confused
Ive never heard of the company but I have now & no way would I order Confused The way they responded to that negative review on Trustpilot is absolutely shocking. What morons have they got writing that embarrassing response to the nagative review?

This needs to be put on Twitter ( including their response on Trustpilot) Shame them & their company.

Wow. Someone needs a lesson in customer service BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

Splitsunrise · 15/07/2020 21:15

@excuseforfights please can you PM me too? I’m an idiot and can’t find!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/07/2020 21:18

Good on you for starting this thread, OP. These things need to be talked about out in the open.

What did Dot Cotton used to say about your sins finding you out? Loads of bang-up-to-date publicity online for them now!

FourDecades · 15/07/2020 21:19

I can't find it either!

spacepoppers · 15/07/2020 21:19

I am actually a bit shocked at their trust pilot response. It's entitled and bitchy.
I would never take my custom elsewhere due to one or two bad reviews, but with a response like that they can piss right off to be honest.

excuseforfights · 15/07/2020 21:20

Split sent!

cockroachcrumble12 · 15/07/2020 21:20

And me I am beyond stupid and cant find it. Please PM me.

excuseforfights · 15/07/2020 21:21

cockroach sent!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 15/07/2020 21:21

I have just read your original thread.

I can not believe that we can not post a reasoned critical review on mumsnet without threat of deletion.

That review seemed to me to be the exact reason to read reviews-it was not malicious-it was just s statement of why OP's expectations were not met and would have been helpful to me to read as a potential customer.

It has to be ok to speak your mind in a critical but measured way.

TheSpottedZebra · 15/07/2020 21:23

Aww, congratulations OP!

Worra they complained about your post too? That's bonkers! And makes me think even more so that MNHQ have no backbone. Surely they notice regular complainants?

saraclara · 15/07/2020 21:23

How odd. Your other OP was perfectly fair, and like any other review would be. Then you followed it up with appreciation for the way the company handled your complaint. So I don't have a clue why they're calling it defamatory.

The response to a negative review on Trustpilot is almost scary. If it's the owner of the company, he sounds like he's on the edge of a breakdown, to be honest.

ArriettyJones · 15/07/2020 21:24

@Chefwifelife if MNHQ weren’t prepared to stand by the posts, they would have taken them down without contacting you. So, they are prepared to risk legal action if you are.

If you think it’s fair comment, don’t be bullied. Leave it up.
