Complaint about a zombie post of mine

Chefwifelife · 15/07/2020 19:06

I had an email from MN report team today to inform me that a post of mine from June 2019 has been reported as possible libel for defamation.

I’ve read the post several times and stand by the post as honest. I’ve informed MN that I don’t want the post deleted.

I can see today that several of the posts by other members on the thread have been deleted.

I was intrigued if there were similar posts on Mumsnet so Googled this company and found that a few days ago there quite an unpleasant exchange on Trust Pilot with a customer who had left a negative review about them.

AIBU to stand by my original (ancient) post or should I just be done with it and delete it? I don’t want to feel bullied into removing an honest post asking for others experiences.

Has anyone been in this situation?

FYI MN have been great throughout.

Trustilots statement says it all really
"Having investigated this matter further, Ocado has recently begun asking consumers to write a review via a pop-up notification during their website check-out process. All customers are being invited in this way and no incentive is being used. We see no evidence of any fake reviews."

“We have asked Ocado to change the review invitation timing to occur after customers’ groceries have been delivered. This would ensure a more holistic view of the customer’s full experience. However, consumers can always update their review on Trustpilot up to six months after it was first written should their experience change.”

MissMadEyeMoody · 16/07/2020 15:53

They took my review down couple months ago, I'm guessing because it wasn't a raving 5 star...

PrincessEugenious · 16/07/2020 19:31

One bought some of these marvellous little bags from this 'World Famous' company for my wedding a couple of years ago. I thought that they were eugenious and really naice. I ordered a dozen or so for the bridesmaids and pageboys and an additional one for Father to keep him quiet and out of trouble. He particularly enjoyed playing with his old fossil and found the Dinosaur Secret File rather exciting, although hopes that its not about to be released publicly. He also thought that the Pombears were delicious and still raves about them. All in all a fantabulous success!

In fact Father has just ordered one for his close friend in the hope that it alleviates her boredom and keeps 'er quiet!

Excellent company. One highly recommends!

Mysterian · 16/07/2020 20:27

I'm certainly never going to use this Shut The Fuck Up company or whatever it's called. If they can't even fake a review properly I'm not going to trust them to send me overpriced pound shop miscellanea.

Interesting how they slated that TP reviewer for criticizing a small family business during a Pandemic, suggesting how nasty she was, whilst also capilalising on the need for hand sanitizer and face masks, which they are selling at an inflated cost.

He'll be very glad he used them and let them do all of the hard work for him - no point working up a sweat running around all the pound shops at the last minute yourself Grin

@Mysterian Grin comment wins the thread

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

Wow, interesting to note that all of the less than positive reviews on trustpilot have now been reported and being reviewed - so we can't see them or the responses!

When they say 'reviewed', do they actually mean 'deleted but technically not deleted? I can think of another website that frequently takes threads down 'while we review' or 'look behind the scenes', but (and I may be mistaken) I've never noticed a single one being re-instated once the reviewing has been completed and it passes muster.

It's a bit of a conundrum as we have no way of knowing if the blurred-out reviews are genuine negative reviews that the business is trying to suppress - and thus we should consider them as a red flag against the company; or if they are trolls/competitors/serial complainers trying to maliciously damage their business - in which case the company is clearly a victim and shouldn't have it held against them.

I have seen some threads reinstated in the past.

Ah, fair enough, then - thanks.

Chefwifelife · 17/07/2020 21:14

Oh dear another 1 star review on TP and another awful response. Blush

TotalFlustercuck · 17/07/2020 21:23

It looks like they’ve updated their management responses to bad reviews - which is probably why the reviews were under review... they’ve been reading this thread.. Grin

The answers are awful though, so defensive.

You know what? Credit where it’s due, I think Dan’s really trying to come across better.

He’s still trying the “we are a small family business so you are mean to be negative” wheedling, though, and he still sounds as though he is FURIOUS beneath his newly acquired veneer of politeness.

Just learn to chill, Dan! Stop trying to suppress or counter every mediocre review. It’s too much. Just apologise, investigate and offer discounts as appropriate, but stay a bit detached.

Pobblebonk · 18/07/2020 01:57

I wonder why he claims that they can't accept returned goods till after the pandemic is over? That may not be for months. For safety purposes, all they need to do is quarantine the goods for a few days.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/07/2020 02:15

A very large number of people and companies have been riding the COVID bandwagon and using it as an excuse not to do what they know they should. That's all I'm saying.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/07/2020 02:23

He’s still trying the “we are a small family business so you are mean to be negative” wheedling, though

I still maintain that they aren't that small a business if they're selling a minimum of 9,000 packs every month (he boasts states a figure of thousands a week). 300 every single day, even if they worked 7 days a week. That's hardly 'Mom & Pop business' territory, is it?

You can't play the 'thousands of happy customers every week' card and the 'small family business' card at the same time, IMHO.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 18/07/2020 06:57

Mine was one of the deleted posts, because I just couldn’t handle the stress of worrying about being taken to court or whatever.

Chefwifelife · 18/07/2020 08:24

@CeeCeeEnnEss I completely understand. In my opinion they’ve drawn a lot more attention to themselves now.

Yes and its bad publicity. I wouldnt order from a company like that uses these tactics.
If they are getting a lot of bad reviews then they should work out why and sort it out, not shoot the messenger

Calibrachoa · 18/07/2020 12:33

He accused someone a couple of times of doing a bad review "on purpose" which is a strange criticism.

AHF1975 · 18/07/2020 12:49

Goodness me, there's suddenly a suspicious number of absolutely glowing reviews for this company popping up on TP. Wonder why that might be?!

alreadytaken · 18/07/2020 13:03

Trustpilot should probably be referred to this - and Dan definitely needs to see this www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-52771913

Never known Trustpilot request an order number if you write a good review but write a bad one and the company can get it taken down.
