How to get rid of green/blue hair....

I had a balayage colour last year, and haven’t had my hair cut since 🙈

I decided to use a semi-permanent aqua coloured hair dye on the ends (well I got carried away and it’s almost half way up) right at the beginning of lockdown. It has faded quite a bit but it has really taken to the bleached bits. How on earth do I get rid of it without having it all cut off? I can’t afford a professional colour.

My natural colour is dark blonde, verging on brown.

When DD went green and blue, we ended up just having to grow it out. We tried colour stripper, bleach, and black dye and the colour still came through. In the end we had to style it so the school couldn't see the streaks and cut it off short. Sorry.

Dye over it your natural colour. I did that once, just a shop-bought dye at home, to cover a pink fringe (dyed over bleach) and it worked fine, it was a close enough match that I never noticed it growing out.

PomBear was hers still really bright? Mine is pretty faded almost greyish is some parts. 😩 why did I not think this through?! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I did the same over lockdown.
I used a colour remover which sent my hair yellow.
I then used a very very light pink dye. I had pink hair for two weeks but didn’t use colour care shampoo so it washed out and got rid of the yellow. This is the best blonde my hair has ever been as a result.

Sorry to say, but blue is notorious for not coming out and fading badly. If it's really faded you could try a colour stripper, wait a bit and colour over it, but you would need something with warm tones to counteract green and it could all go a bit orange over bleach...

When i went to the hairdressers to get my full hair dyed blue the hairdresser couldnt stress enough to me that blue and green tones are basically impossible to get out of your hair unless you dye much darker than your natural colour, so you would need to grow it out or dye 3/4 shades darker than what your natural is to cover it xx

Thank you, I’m so annoyed with myself!

Wash your hair using tomato ketchup instead of shampoo. Leave it on for a while. It works in most cases.

I had to grow my blue hair out. Never again! Pink and yellow is fine. Blue and green...run for the hills!

Is vosene still available? I used that

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 17/07/2020 04:03

It was crazy colour "semi-permanent" !
Even jet black permanent after colour stripper and bleach didn't cover it.

Teana89 · 17/07/2020 05:26

Anti-dandruff shampoo will help strip some of the colour out.

Put ketchup on your head for an hour or two!
