To ask for advice from Nurses/Student Nurses?

On a degree programme?

I have a conditional offer for a Bsc 3 year programme, and unconditional for 4 year Bsc (Hons) or Masters Pathway.

The conditional offer was given on Sunday, I have to complete 4 modules of A level be end of August.

I have been at the University offering a conditional (3 year programme) since 2013, undergraduate, then postgraduate, then working since 2018. The course appeals to me as its 3 years and I want to work again ASAP.

The unconditional (4 year) University is much closer to home, but it is a very new university, much smaller, and I would get Summer off. However, a nurse mentor I spoke to said that those students with summer off usually come back to placement further behind their peers.

I am a single parent to two sons, so Summer off sounded easier to manage, however I am conscious that I want to get into the role ASAP. However, I could do bank work during summer so as not to lose confidence?

I know the Master/honours doesn't necessarily add value, as I will do post graduate again to specialise.

I'm not sure what is best.

I'm not a student nurse but I think the unconditional offer and the summer off is the best route.
No sense in making life harder than it has to be and you might struggle to get the modules done etc.
I'm at uni and as a single parent and took a hard route and I regret it

That post maybe sounded a bit whiney, I don't mean it to. Work is stressful and with all thats going on, I just want to make sure I make the right choice!

When I was at uni people did have children and do the 3year programme but it did look massively stressful. I would consider the 4 year, although longer, I think it may maintain your sanity!

My sanity and my families! I think it looks as though the 4600 hours of placement is spread over 15 weeks each year, then 15 weeks of theory then 12 weeks off.

Dissertation puts me off 4 year course, my last one nearly killed me!
