A friend has decided she's going to start doing this and there's a party this weekend on Facebook. I am fearful of getting dragged in to buying more stuff I don't need. I don't know much about FL but it already sounds like I'm being given a script about the party. Do I just turn it down flat and say I don't need anything? I already buy Scentsy and Body Shop from friends as I don't like to let them down and don't mind the products.

My AIBU is AIBU to just not engage at all or should I be warning her off it ? Is it that bad? Will she be hounded if she doesn't sell a lot?

If your friend isn't in too deep yet, she may respond to some of the anti MLM accounts on Youtube.

Emily Leah is a great one as she provides all her (credible) sources, like income disclosure statements and footage of the hunbots actively lying to promote their business and give off their fake bossbabe lifestyle

‘Filling in a form’ ?

Ask about her GDPR policy

I said I might make it but late. I'll just not reply. She's not a close friend so I can likely avoid it!

All MLMs are awful because they all share the same scammy business model. Forever Living however deserves a special place in Hell. The thing is your friend @Polkadotpjs is no doubt reading about all the glamorous high earning successes of FLP.. yet nearly all of the poster girls and boys they wheel out to entice people in are living off massive directors loans they can’t pay back, are a barely trading, have plummeting incomes or, among the ones they don’t feature now, are under bankruptcy orders. If that’s the fleeting success of top FLP UK people you’ve got to ask yourself what the chances are for those at the bottom of the pyramid.

I think if you “support” your friend by attending sales/recruitment events and buying product you’re just driving her in deeper. I’d steer clear and try and watch the inevitable car crash from a distance.

Those schemes only work because people get some pity sales from friends and family when they start. After that it dries up fast.
