Weird sertraline side effects?

Posting here for traffic really; but I'm not sure what to do for the best as it is a sunday and cant call my doctor. I have re-started my sertraline, having previously been on 150mg then stopped for 10 weeks. I was on 50mg but increased my dose to 100mg yesterday, after my tablet this morning I have muscle twitching, am sweating quite a bit (mostly on my palms and chest), have quite a fast heart rate (120bpm when I checked), I've not had these side effects before I generally only get the nausea and brain fuzz when I take it. I don't know if I should wait till tomorrow to call my doctor and maybe not take tomorrows dose until I've spoken to them; or try and call out of hours for advice today I've never had side effects begin so quickly after taking a pill before. I know what I'm like and if I google this I am likely to overthink and over react - my partner thinks I overreact to everything - so I'd appreciate some outside opinions on what's best to do.

I was on sertraline for a long time, stopped and restarted. Initially I had no issues but when I restarted I had lots of side effects for the first while. It gave me the shakes and as you said had my heart racing, temperature up and I was having hot sweaty episodes - so much so I had to stop my car when driving to throw up once or twice! The dr said it was probably just my body readjusting to it again, and I had maybe increased the dose too soon. They recommended starting at 50mg for a week, then 100mg for a week etc rather than just a couple of days.
It calmed down after the first few days and I was fine thereafter 😊 I hope you feel better soon!

You need to introduce it slowly and reduce it slowly if you're on a high dose. When Ifirst started it and if I missed even a few days then restarted it it made me feel like I'd taken E and was coming up.... I even passed out once work up to/or down from your prescribed dose over a couple of weeks. Not all doctors tell you that when they first prescribe it

Rapid heart rate, sweating and twitching are a sign of Seratonin Syndrome, a very serious side-effect which can be fatal if untreated.
You could need treatment to get your Seratonin levels down. Look it up and, if you think it applies, telephone 111 and tell them you think you may have it. Better to be safe than sorry.

Always read your leaflets thoroughly. This can occur with any SSRIs. It is very important that you know about it and learn what the symptoms of it are.
