Why can’t I lose weight?!

Hi,
I’ve been using My Fitness Pal for about 6 weeks - tracking what I eat and I’ve increased my exercise too. I do 1.5 miles jod a few times a week. 4 times this week actually. The odd swim in the sea, lots of walks and some surfing/paddling. I eat relatively healthy, drink alcohol a few times a week. I’ll eat a bacon sarnie sometimes, but then have salad lunch and a good cooked evening meal. I’ve lost half a stone, so I’m finally under 12 stone, but nothing else is shifting. I’m 5’4 so not that tall and would just like to be under 11 stone. 10.5 would be ideal. I’m fairly active and try to do 10k steps a day. The weight is just not shifting!!! Any ideas? Thanks.

Slow and steady is definitley the way to go so 7lbs in 6 weeks is spot on. I would agree with other posters who have said that your food intake is a bit on the high side. Also, don't eat back the calories you burned off during exercise. If you are managing a 1.5 mile jog at the moment you should work on increasing distance gradually to build up to 5k (just over 3 miles) Also, drink loads and loads of water. Good luck with it!

Lots of people have already mentioned it but I'd also recommend you look up how many calories you're taking in with those alcoholic drinks a few times a week.

No need to cut it out completely necessarily, but alcohol can be surprisingly calorific and it's likely you're consuming more calories than you realise.

I've been logging everything on MFP and was appalled that a scraping of butter on my two pieces of toast was over 100 calories. I do intermittent fasting and don't eat after my dinner between 5 and 6pm. I eat breakfast around 8-9am. I have 2-3 cups of tea with skimmed milk but other than that I only drink water. I'm sticking to an average of 1200 calories a day. I've not weighed myself as I had an eating disorder and can't bear to see the numbers. However my clothes that had got tight are now much looser, my stomach less round and bloated. I've upped my activity by aiming to go up and down the stairs 25 times a day and do steps ups. I'm shielded so stuck at home pretty much. Lockdown weight gain is depressing!
