Pasta salad - using hands to mix?!??

DH was making a mayo pasta salad today as friends over for a BBQ. He'd put all the ingredients in a big bowl, I walked in on him using his hands to mix it all together. AIBU to have called him out on how disgusting and inappropriate this is? No idea where he's got the idea that hands are better than spoons. Am now getting the silent treatment - genuinely now questioning if I am in the wrong here and this is normal behaviour??

If you think it’s inappropriate because of the current situation, maybe don’t invite people over to eat? Most foods require some sort of hands-on preparation.

Those of you that use gloves do you change the gloves several times during the prepping of each meal? If not that’s far worse than not wearing gloves and washing you hands several times during the course of cooking. Germs are germs wether they are on gloves or on your freshly washed hands.

That's why I was quoting the op and laughing. I've been in hotel kitchens where I wouldn't even drink the coffee. I've reported more than one as well.

Used to work on a salad bar in a large supermarket. This was exactly how we made the pasta salad.

Hands in the mayo? Urgh. Not so much the hygiene, more the sensation. Can't bear grease on my fingers, horrible.
