We will be spending some time in places with no public toilets but also not really any bushes to crouch behind, so considering one of these.

Does anyone have experience of them and tell me, are they actually any good?
Do they actually allow you to pee discreetly without dripping on your clothes or shoes?

And is sheewee the best brand or are other brands better?

I had a She Wee for travelling. It’s great but you do have to practice. I found I had to press it quite hard against myself to prevent any, er, spills.

I've got a she wee, whenever I use it the piss overflows and I get wee everywhere. I prefer to squat.

MereDintofPandiculation · 10/07/2020 23:21

She-wee needs an extension tube - that now comes with it (when I bought mine many years ago, it was just the basic she-wee and I had to attach a bit of tubing left over from the fish tank). It also comes with a little box to keep them both in.

Takes a bit of practice to get over that reflex that says "I'm not on a toilet or behind a bush -I can't wee"

At 10 years old Confused I think there were several morals to that story.

The traveljohns look useful, thanks.

And in answer to previous question, going to an area with no trees or bushes to hide behind so hoping for some sort of solution in case of emergency!

Also wondering what to do about children who will inevitably decide they need to poo when miles from nearest toilet. They are far too old for a potty...

I've got a she wee, whenever I use it the piss overflows and I get wee everywhere You can't squirt the pee out as you usually would, you have to relax and let it dribble.

And what do you do with the scarf if wearing leggings?

And what do you do with the scarf if wearing leggings?
Glad you asked! I was wondering this too...

@Lockdownlumpy

And what do you do with the scarf if wearing leggings?
I'm guessing tie it around your waist like a sarong.

Children you have to hold if they need a wee. I always tell mine we're going somewhere without a toilet and to make sure they poo before we leave. Be sure to ask them if it's a wee or a poo they have to do. Then you find somewhere more suitable and either you bury it or pick it up in a plastic bag and double, triple bag it. It's only ever been an issue when DC was recently toilet trained and then, only for one of them. I've given my DD my shewee and told her to learn to use it this year so that next summer she can use it out and about confidently.

Sushiroller · 11/07/2020 07:07

Last time i used a shewee it was at a festival
I watched a row of 4 women relax and promtly piss all over themselves.
Then, learning from their mistakes. I peed incredibly slowly and proceeded to slowly piss all over myself 👍

Good luck

Pangur2 · 11/07/2020 07:15

I have a shewee and I’ve never pissed all over my self. It’s not like having a willy in regard to discreetness though; you still have to get the funnel underneath, so you have to pull down your jeans and pants a bit. Wear a long top or something around your waist and you’ll be grand.

beautifulmonument · 11/07/2020 07:43

A long time ago I had some disposable paper ones that I got at a festival. They were really good. They caught all the drips much better than the sheewee which I bought later on

Hi OP I find the shewee amazing.. the trick is not to have it flush with your body. Have the back of it resting against you but the front bit a tiny bit away and you'll not get leaks. Plus you can kind of wipe with it too so you stay dry. Practise in the shower first lol.
The best thing to have with them is Peebols, they are a lifesaver! They are bags containing crystals that absorb the wee (kind of like the granules in nappies). The bags take up to 1 litre, seal tight, no spills or smells and the crystals are biodegradable. I use them all the time for my DC. They've even done number twos in them when we've been in a tight spot with nowhere to go. Got a little porta potty too but if you can't get anywhere to empty it quick it's grim so that's where the peebols are good. Happy pee'ing :) xx

I'm an outdoor worker so have a sheewee and i get on brilliantly with it. But I agree with previous posters that you do need to practice first and use it before you get desperate so you can concentrate easier 🤣

Mine has a leak proof carry case to go back in. If you can master it, it is a lot more discreet than squatting behind a tree. I can even undo my trousers but leave them up. I was walking a clients dog in a country park when I needed to go. I was behind a tree and had just finished when I heard voices along the path. I gave the sheewee a quick shake and put it out of view behind my hand and dropped my top back over my unzipped trousers and carried on, saying hello as I went past. They didn't bat an eyelid. It was a lot more discreet than jumping up from behind a tree in a panic while pulling my trousers up!
