My fault that someone's dog ran across the road?

This morning I was taking Sally for a walk and there was a family who were walking two golden retrievers on the other side of the road. I stopped to pop pick and one of their dogs saw Sally and ran across the road in front of a car (luckily the car stopped in time)!
The Woman then proceeded to tell at me saying that I shouldn't have been stood there, that it was my fault that her dog ran across the road and asked me whether I was trying to get her dog killed!

She should have had it on a lead!

Notfeelinggreattoday · 07/07/2020 13:33

Why was her dog not on a lead next to a road , totally her fault and she is irresponsible

Delilah21D00LoT · 07/07/2020 15:23

Her dog is her responsibility, tell her to 'do one'. If she cannot control it around other dogs then she shouldn't be walking it.

Cherrysoup · 07/07/2020 15:26

She was stupid. I don’t care how well trained your dog is, it should be on a lead on a road.

Rhubardandcustard · 07/07/2020 15:33

You get crackpot crazy people in all walks of life. I’ve come across a few that own dogs.

Was apparently my fault that this mans dog attacked mine as my dog was on a lead and his wasn’t on a lead.

Either shout back at them or don’t. Don’t think it matters either way.

okiedokieme · 07/07/2020 15:35

Why wasn't her dog on a lead by a road? You can't be responsible for another dogs bad behaviour

Lightswitches · 07/07/2020 17:51

Thank you smiffypeabrain. That means a lot. I was so shamed I didn't tell anyone. My mum wasn't the understanding sort either and wouldn't have helped me put it in perspective, so it was a guilty secret for a long time. Kind of good to get it out here all these years later and have someone say it wasn't completely all my fault either. Thank you for the validation Smile I'm sorry you had the same sort of experience. It does stay with you for long afterwards. That driver had no right to shout at you or drive like that. Flowers He was obviously covering up for his crap driving.

Sick sick sick of wannabe dog whisperers round our area with dogs not on a lead. I mean on roads, not in parks. Stupid woman. Dogs should be on leads around traffic.

Runbitchrun · 07/07/2020 22:38

Can’t believe it took until the bottom of the second page for someone to ask who the fuck Sally is?!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/07/2020 12:44

@Runbitchrun RTFT. Sally is a giant roast ox studded with chilli cheese hot dogs. Hmm
