Are they going to go ahead spring / early summer 2021? I'm talking indoor, 100 people reception - a normal pre 2020 wedding!

Mine is booked and save the dates sent out but I'm wondering if our guests secretly think we are deluded!

The simple answer is we don't know. I'd hope for the best and prep for the worst. Maybe start thinking what a socially distanced wedding would look like. Talk to suppliers now about a plan b c d and e

Nobody knows. Personally I expect spring/summer 21 yes they will go ahead but possibly not full capacity.

I work in the wedding industry and getting a lot of new bookings for 2021 so you’re in good company.

Hope so, I have everything booked for 3rd July next year

AliBear90 · 06/07/2020 20:31

I hope so. We’re not booked for 2021, but are booked for 2022 and even I’m slightly worried about covid meaning it won’t be a “normal” wedding. But I hope it all goes ahead perfectly for you x

Icanflyhigh · 06/07/2020 20:40

Fingers crossed they are as we are 19th June, postponed from june this year.

luckylavender · 06/07/2020 21:00

Nobody knows, how could we?

abouttopropose · 06/07/2020 21:08

@luckylavender no one knows a lot about covid but there's still constant speculation on MN.

I was only asking for thoughts. Scroll past if it annoys you.

Radio 4 had a good programme in this and the general consensus was that people always expect things to end sooner than they actually do. Wars in particular.

I think it will depend on what happens over the winter. My best guess is a hard winter will kick it all off again. A mild winter (thankfully seems to be the trend) and the virus may be containable.
Maybe Christmas will be dodgy with lots of inside activities and people meeting up. But even with another full lockdown and we should be out by March if this one us anything to go by.

luckylavender · 07/07/2020 06:30

@abouttopropose - it doesn't annoy me but I think you could get false reassurance when there is literally no one who could know.

Honestly think it might be ok. Even this summer in Italy they are allowing outdoor fetes and festivals. That seemed impossible even two months ago. The wedding industry is just that - an industry. That industry will be applying pressure on govt, as will the rest of the music and entertainment industry, to allow big events asap. As a caveat, I would very much dispute being asked to pay a hefty deposit for 109 plus guests. If they ask you for it I would scale it back to 30, then nearer the time ask if you can make it bigger. Personally I would prefer to know I could go ahead with 30 than to lose the money for a 100 person wedding. I think deposits should be smaller in these uncertain times, especially as wedding insurance doesn't cover covid usually.
