  1. We called a toe poking through a sock hole a "potato".
  1. Whoever made the most mess at the dinner table "won the prize"... And the prize was to clean up the mess!

My mum used to make a similar dessert - Maryland cookies, dipped in sherry (or brandy) & stuck together with whipped cream, then coated with it.

My MIL used to make the Maryland cookie pudding, topped with crumbled chocolate flake. A very small portion was adequate, I think she used cooking sherry and orange squash for dunking!

Oh yes, I'd forgotten the flake. Or sometimes grated chocolate.
