To ask if there are *ANY* facemasks that don't steam up glasses?

Can anybody recommend facemasks that can be worn with specs? Both the shell type ones and the paper ones just steam up my glasses within 3 seconds. The cloth one I tried is even worse.

I crochet mine from 4 ply cotton - crochet in a pocket and insert a 5 layer filter.

They don't fog glasses.

PM me if you want one. I'm feeling generous haha

I've just been to a hospital and wore the one they gave me in the door for 30min or so. My glasses didn't steam up.

Masks that strap around your head are best imo. Take a look at combatcovidmasks (I've no affiliation) on Insta, specifically her Solo mask style. They work perfectly for me, no steaming.

I use micropore tape to stick the mask down over my nose. This improves things a lot - hardly any streaming up. For me, the wired nose ones do not solve the problem.

Akire · 04/07/2020 16:22

I’ve not found wire ones to do any good. I’ve started to tape down that side to my face only way I can see what I’m doing.

And this is why we had wholemeal pizza last night (I picked up the wrong flour because my glasses were all steamed up!).

@AngryAngel

Oh, and while I'm here, am I the only person who can't get the elastic bits to stay around the ears? Maybe I have an enormous head and floppy ears, but they just pop off. Tempted to just get one of those glass bowls like Sandy has in Spongebob.
I had that problem and got one of those strips of fabric with a couple of buttons on so that the mask goes round my head rather than ears as the straps were a pain with my glasses

Fits better both ears wise and steam up wise

Also I stuck a pipe cleaner (the ones kids play with) into my fabric mask so it moulded to my face and my cheeks and that made a big difference

BritWifeinUSA · 04/07/2020 16:44

Put a piece of bendy wire on the seam that goes over the nose.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 04/07/2020 16:54

Does spitting on the glasses and washing it off work like with diving masks?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/07/2020 17:01

If you’re not making your own the Boden fabric masks have wire in them, DDs like them for that reason. Or, as PPs, we sort of tuck them under the glasses edge, seems to do the trick.

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 04/07/2020 17:03

You need wire to bend round your nose. Bend it tightly round your nose

If your glasses are steaming up then your breath is coming out the top onto your glasses

Castoreum · 04/07/2020 18:38

I made my own and put a bit of ordinary wire that I had kicking about in to shape it to my nose. As long as I put my mask on before I put my glasses on, it is fine and does not fog up.

Cookies2523 · 04/07/2020 22:34

Hahaha! I just love how many people get on their high horse on here. It's their way or no way! 😂😂

DianaT1969 · 04/07/2020 22:41

I have this with fabric, but not with the round, rigid DIY masks used for sanding floors. They fit around the nose better. They feel a bit hot though.

BertieBotts · 05/07/2020 06:13

Of course it means it's not a perfect fit, but the point of masks for shops, public transport etc isn't to have a perfect medical fit, it's just to have a facial covering to reduce spread.

If it's not too hot try a snood style covering www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/accessories/handyband-headbands?cm_re=PLA--PLA--HandybandsL5&cm_sp=PR--HandybandsL5--PLA
