Am baking a chocolate cake recipe I've done multiple times before, so know the current timings work. But this time want to create two larger, thicker square layers. I usually half the mixture into two small round tins, which bake fine at 160(fan) for 25 minutes. Now want to put the whole mixture into a larger square tin, and will make two to layer them.

Does anyone know what I should do about cooking times? I've been googling but have only succeeded in confusing myself Confused.

What size are your round tins and what size are your square tins in inches?

This table is spot on to scale up recipes

cooking times are a lot about the thickness of the layer than the amount.

These tables assume your base recipe is for an 8” round as the most common size.

Here’s baking times, but you will just have to watch closely and judge yourself the first time!

If I'm using the 200g sandwich recipe (ie 200g of each ingredient) in one 7" round deep tin, I bake at 150 (fan) or 170 (non-fan) for 1h10m and it comes out perfect every time.
