DS starting secondary school in September, was wondering how much you give them for lunch per day/week?

For environmental reasons, we have agreed no bottled drinks. DS takes a refillable bottle. DS spent a bit more to start with, but it soon settled down, and he only spends a couple of pounds on days he doesn't take a pack lunch.

I give £15 per week plus extra on snack card which is used in school for break so probably £20 a week in total.

I used to pay the same amount as the kids who got free school meals got.

I also have my oldest starting secondary school this September and have been thinking about this. Meals are around £2.50 and he isn't a big eater, but he hasn't had much independence with buying things yet so I'm conscious of the novelty.
He'll pay with his fingerprint connected to my parentpay account and I can set a daily limit. Apparently children with lunchtime clubs tend to opt for packed lunch because it means no queuing, and I expect this will mean at least 2 days for DS, if not more.
I've decided to put £120 on for the whole term with a daily cap of £4, and make sure he has a couple of snacks in his bag as well for hungry days.
