To ask about Portugal?

I've lost the plot about travel as I'm working all hours and am exhausted.... can anyone help me in words of one syllable.... I have a short trip to Portugal booked on 13-15 July. Not a holiday. Portugal isn't on today's list. The flights are not cancelled. Is it right that I can still go but would have to isolate for 14d when I get back? How does it affect rest of my family that I live with but not going to Portugal?

From the Government website...

How to self-isolate in your accommodation
You should self-isolate in one place for the full 14 days, where you can have food and other necessities delivered, and stay away from others. You must self-isolate at the address you provided on the public health passenger locator form.

This can include:

your own home
staying with friends or family
a hotel or other temporary accommodation
You should not have visitors, including friends and family, unless they are providing essential care. The only friends and family who you can have contact with are those who travelled with you or people who you are staying with.

You cannot go out to work or school or visit public areas. You should not go shopping. If you require help buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, you should ask friends or relatives or order a delivery^

It reads like you can have contact with them but now I've posted it I see it doesn't say if they need to have no contact with others 🤦

Portugal is still on the ‘essential travel only’ list. Therefore government is saying only go if you have to. On this basis, it’s likely any travel insurance will be invalid and you shouldn’t really go, as well as the isolation issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do cancel flights there. Sorry it’s not very positive.

There doesn't seem to be stability and consistency in English policy, OP, if you live in England. Things may change, though I realise you can't rely on this for planning.
