Ryanair - cancelling for vouchers when actual flight is not cancelled?

Sorry, in AIBU for traffic.

We were supposed to be going away end of August, booked through RA prior to covid shitstorm.

The accommodation have cancelled. However the RA flights are not cancelled. Thought about booking other accommodation, but tbh i'm not sure i'm keen on travelling that soon at all considering everything.

I know that RA do not offer refunds if it is YOU that is choosing to not travel, though they do allow you to change your booking. Does anyone know if you can cancel your flights for vouchers if you're not immediately booking new travel? So you'd essentially have the money in your account with them to spend?

I think if you choose not to use your flight, you lose the money. I don't think you would be offered a voucher in that situation.

But you can change your flights to different flights within 12 months of the original flights booked.

So in theory that's the same as a voucher?

No idea, check the small print.

I don't fly with them.

They are allowing flights to be moved but I thought it was only if it was a booking made after 10th June ?

Friends of ours have moved theirs but had to pay a change of date fee.

If the flight is cancelled, then you are entitled to a refund, although Ryanair will try to fob you off with a voucher first

If the flight isn't cancelled, then it's your choice not to travel. In that scenario, I believe that you can amend the dates of your trip, but you will probably pay a pretty hefty amendment fee

Sorry, I just read your OP more carefully

No, so far as I'm aware, you can't cancel your flight and leave a credit in your account to use for some other trip some of the time

I think you can change the name of one of the passengers though. I did this once when I had to cancel a holiday due to family bereavement and one of my friends to my place

Only change Ryanair are offering me is change of date which comes with a nice £90 admin fee per flight.

If they cancel the flight they’ll try and fob you off with vouchers. The only places I’ve seen offering free date changes are travel agents, not airlines.
