To think a chair should last longer than 8 weeks

Bought some chairs from Made.com, £180
For a pair.

The brace/spindle/stretcher has popped out of the legs and now the chair is wobbly.

Husband thinks I did it getting on and off the chair sideways. He says he pulls his out and site on it . I think that I do that too but he says he's seen me doing it the other way.

I think that chairs that are for functional (not decorative) use should be strong enough to I
Withstand me getting on and off them. And that they should be put through rigorous testing so that they are strong enough.

I argued that most chairs are approached from one side and that although I so overweight (13st but tall) a lot of men are over that weight and it's not an unusual weight/pressure to put on a chair.

What do you guys think?

Under consumer law goods should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time. I don't think anyone would argue that 8 weeks is reasonable for a chair, that 13st is excessive, or there are inst3uctions for how to get on and off. I'd be pointing out this to them and expecting a refund.

They're clearly not fit for purpose. I've had £25 ikea chairs stand up to more than that.

Send em back.

After years of chairs falling to bits I finally bought some dining chairs that are intended for a commercial environment. They look good (for a while I kept seeing them in interiors magazines) and even now 13 years and lots of use later they are still in good nick.

I’d be sending them back too! You should be able
to get on and off a chair any way you like without it breaking!

Yes I have sent details and information to Made.com and pictures.

The aibu was mainly that me and my partner disagreed with the cause. I say poor manufacturing/quality and he says it's the way I get on and off the chairs. I mean, it's not like I'm jumping on them or anything.

I did point out that kids often do do things like jumping on chairs so they should be able to cope with that anyway but he disagrees.
