I haven't but I have met a friend's one when on holiday on the other side of the world in NZ, it was such an odd experience - they obviously didn't sound alike but they looked identical.

My cousin is my doppilganger. She works in m&s 20 miles away from me, I went in once and the manager came over and asked me to go to his office and explain why I'm not wearing my uniform. At my 40th birthday party she was asked to make a speech and cut into a cake.
Looking at baby photos we look the same. I'm 2 weeks older.

Hope you got an apology!

I’m told my doppelgänger is Marion Cotillard. Haven’t met her but I imagine if I did I wouldn’t see the resemblance. Maybe I could pass as her plain sister. My son is a doppelgänger for me at his age though. That’s weird. Though once again he’s the better looking of the two!

Yes, I was 19 and walking to get the bus from Rusholme to Umist with a friend and she was walking towards us.

We were both so shocked we didn't say anything. Never saw her again.

Bluesheep8 · 28/06/2020 15:19

I've seen my sister's. When my great Aunt passed away, we were sorting out her things and there was a good pendant with a photo in it. I thought it was my sister. Same colour hair, identical features and facial expression. It was our great great Aunt. The likeness is incredible.

Bluesheep8 · 28/06/2020 15:20

gold pendant

Yes - very unsettling. Met up with friend of girl I was traveling with in my twenties. She did warn me! We had evening out with her the waiters assumed we were twins

Similar to @blackpoe

I was 18 and standing on the platform waiting for my train when the commuter train before mine pulled in.

She was sitting in that train and looking out of the window. Our eyes met and it was as though I were looking into a mirror and seeing myself wearing a wig. She must have seen it, too, going by her expression. It was an utterly bizarre moment.

I considered jumping on that train and meeting her for a second but hesitated just a bit too long and off went the train with her inside.

It wouldn't have been one of these "also regularly frequented by tourists" trains, so I assume she would have been more or less local to me, too.

I'm from London, though, so that's basically a small European country in terms of "local" population. My mum still lives in the area and I still occasionally wonder if I'll ever run into her again. Chances are small to non-existent, though, I guess.

Ijustreallywantacat · 28/06/2020 15:36

Sort of. When I was working the tills at the village shop, I ID'd a girl for cigarettes. She looked very similar to me. When I checked her ID, she had the same first and middle name as me. Same birthday, same year. Freaky! I was getting excited but she didn't seem to think it was an amazing coincidence!

GizzaNuther · 28/06/2020 16:33
@GizzaNuther Did she look at you? Shock
We were on a cycle path riding towards each other. We both turned our heads at the same time so I think she may well have seen me. It was not far from where I live but I haven't seen her since.

NewtonPulsifer · 28/06/2020 16:39

I am identical to my great grandmother. If ever I went to one of those dress up places and had a sepia/black and white photo take in Victorian dress you’d struggle to tell the difference.
There must be someone who looks like me here as I often get asked if I have a sister. I don’t.

Ormally · 28/06/2020 17:12

Mine apparently uses the same train platform takeaway café as me - about 3-4 hours earlier in a morning! A couple of the staff have remarked on it. I moved to where I now live in the early 2000s, a few different parts of the same county since then, and remember some small children talking about how I looked like 'X' at that time, and I wonder if it might be the same person.

honeylulu · 28/06/2020 17:15

This wasn't me but my sister.

Her husband is a child of his father's second marriage. When her husband's paternal grandmother was moving into a home my sister and husband helped clear her house. In the loft they found some photos from the dad's first wedding. The bride looked exactly like my sister in every way. It could have been her. Sister and husband were really shocked at the resemblance (and that the dad had never mentioned it but but must have noticed).

TheSquareCube · 28/06/2020 17:30

My Dbros doppleganger lives in the same town as us, he must get so confused being called by my brothers name

TheCatsWhisker · 28/06/2020 17:53

I met mine at gymnastics when we were both 8, we even have the same name. Our parents even mixed us up.

She lived a few miles away from me and went to a different schools, but every so often someone would start chatting away to me and I'd have no idea who they were, they thought they were talking to my doppelgänger.

She was lovely though so never caused me any issues. I saw a photo of her on FB a few years ago through a mutual friend and we still look exactly the same even though we are both in our 30's now. Our DH's both look similar and we work in the same industry. Weird 😀

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 28/06/2020 18:17

This thread is reminding me of the great 90s film The Double Life of Veronique:

I highly recommend it to anyone with a doppelgänger.

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 28/06/2020 18:50

My sister went to see a very well known 80s singer at a small "evening with" type gig. She swore she thought it was me when she came out on the stage. I wish! I can't carry a tune in a bucket. Singer is also beautiful and rich Grin - we did both wear similar clothes and make up styles, but I never see any resemblance.
My sister otoh is the absolute image of Susan Boyle, to the point of being asked for selfies and autographs.

Sceptre86 · 28/06/2020 19:05

Not a doppelganger for me as such but I do have a striking resemblance facially to my dad's cousins daughter. We have very different builds but her face is very similar to mine. A cousin of my dh's said I reminded her of a friend who it turned out is her. I mentioned that we are related but our dad's lost touch.

A few years ago when I got married I met family friends of my inlaws and the women was a doppelganger of my nan. I was so shocked and sat next to the women all evening just staring at her face. When they left I promptly burst into tears and showed my inlaws a pic of my nan and they admitted the similarity was uncanny. The lady in question is lovely and thankfully doesn't think I am a total weirdo maybe just slightly unhinged. I do love meeting her as she is a very kind lady, her voice is differentand she is much younger than my nan, taller too. My mum and aunt met her when they came up for my fil's funeral and both were taken aback. My aunt actually cried on the way back to my house and she is not a crier.
