My son is nearly 13 and still has all his baby molars. They are starting to give him pain and I need him to see a dentist asap. Is it normal to still have baby teeth at nearly 13?

Mine are 13 and nearly 15 and both still have some baby teeth but they are both on the waiting list for the orthodontist

Dd didn't lose her first tooth until she was almost 7.5y She was the only child in the class to have not lost a tooth and wasn't impressed!

I used to know someone who at 24 still had all their baby teeth. They had been to the dentist, everything was fine, she had no dental problems whatsoever. The adult teeth were there but just hadn't come through yet.

The dentist told my ds he had lost all his baby teeth at our last visit when ds was almost 12.5 years old.

I have the condition a pp mentioned where I still have some baby molars at 40 because I never had adult teeth underneath. It's hereditary but my DC don't seem to also be affected.

I suppose your dentist could x-ray your DC's teeth to see if there are adult molars, but I doubt they would because there's nothing to be done if they are missing. Just make sure your DC takes care of their baby teeth in case they need them to last a long time.
