Use of drive

So we have a side by side drive with a neighbour. Last year they asked us well in advance if they could use our drive and theirs for a bouncy castle for us Their wine birthday party. I've been advised by another neighbour that this year they intend to do the same but for this Saturday. They've invited other neighbours for drinks tonight but not us despite us getting on good terms. They've not asked us yet but apparently they plan to, I really want to be petty and say no AIBU?

If you don’t want them to use it-park your car on it.

You could refuse but need to consider if this will effect future relationships.

Park your car as usual and they will need to ask you to move it if they need it. You can them move it very graciously and show you have a large heart. You never know when you will need a favour off them.

I know you are narked but who you invite into your home various for no negative reasons. One of my OH friend is apt to use bad language despite being spoken to. There are several of my friends I would not invite around him because it would offend them although I would rather they came and he did not.

that's why I would park someone else's car on my drive. You can always argue that you would love to move it, but they won't be back to pick it up until Sunday night.

Petty possibly

So I'd had a couple of vodkas last night when I posted and have realised this morning I was being very silly 🙈 We obviously won't say no because it won't inconvenience us we can park the cars somewhere else. And want to keep on the good side.

Still haven't been asked, we won't go even if we're invited as we're sticking to just family visits. Those that have said to point out he's not allowed more than 6 - he's not the kind of person to care 😂 Anyway yes I was very silly and petty last night my grown up head is back on today.

I would remind them about the lockdown rules for gatherings

Is there any imperative for them to sue your drive? Why not their back garden, or have it over their drive and their front garden?

Collaborate · 30/06/2020 09:12

*use

OP no- you're being silly now not on the vodkas, by even considering allowing this to happen. IF- and we dont know for sure yet- they do just assume they can use somebody else's drive to plonk a hideous bouncy castle on without asking them, without being polite and friendly and grateful for and realising this is actually a pretty big ask- then no, you should not allow them to use it. Please park your park a friends car on it on Friday morning.
The few people saying yes, you should let them do whatever they want, despite their behaviour for "future relations" what are the relations right now like? Entitled, rude neighbours with no concept of manners or themselves prioritising neighbourly relations as it is- so why would you go out of your way to appease them in any way?
