to ask if this type of dining table exists

Long story short a dining table that extends width ways instead of getting longer?

We've just had our offer accepted for a new house (yay!) So in lockdown boredom I am already thinking of what needs doing, buying etc.

The dining area is square but also a through way between the front room and kitchen. So a 6 seater dining table sits nicely on one side half of the room, and allows you to walk through into the kitchen and also access the staircase.

I want an extending table as like to entertain, but there's no room for extra length, it needs to be one that extends width ways into the room. Any ideas? :)

I have this it goes form an oval to a squareish circle.

It cost me £4.99 on ebay a bargain.

😮😮😮😮 @GingerFluffycat
You've just bankrupted me! I must have that circular table - I've never seen anything like it.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 27/06/2020 17:35

Oh. £16k + VAT. That actually would bankrupt me!

Yes, a friend of mine has one. Look for 'flip top console table'

@GingerFluffycat

You want one of these:

Expandable circular dining table - I've seen a modern one somewhere (in beech with glass inset panels) but can't for the life of me remember where. I'll do some research and return to the thread with details if I find it.

Be warned, they're expensive!

Oh my! That's beautiful 😍 and brilliant! If only I had the house, and the money, for it.

I had a circular gplan table that I got from an antique shop that extended in the middle as it was circular you could turn it whichever way was best

We have this
www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/bjursta-extendable-table-white-90204743/
Seats 4 easily when round. Says seats 6 when extended, but we've managed 10 easily for main plates and side plates formal means, 12 for celebration meals.

I have one, it's old though so wouldn't be available in shops. It's oval & the long sides can be up or down to widen/narrow it with pull out runners to hold the flaps up.
Check ebay. This one has side adjustments similar to mine & what I think you're describing. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/oak-gate-leg-drop-leaf-table/254628123621?hash=item3b4904d3e5:g:IMsAAOSwxNte6oZV
