This headteacher has said what many parents have been saying yet suspended .....

We need more head teachers like this - our children have been failed.

YABU - she should say nothing - let it go - ignore the ones who have done nothing to help children
YANBU - she is correct to say it as it is - children have been let down

I think the problem is that OP didn't give a 'the headteacher is unprofessional and shouldn't have said this' option.

Her options were yes teachers are shit, but other staff should cover this up or teachers are shit and staff shouldn't cover up for them.

Of course parents can talk among themselves and contact their child's school if they're not happy with whatever aspect. That's exactly what teachers and other have been encouraging the serial moaners on MN to do.

But no, you don't slag off your direct reports for following govt guidance when you want them to break that on the radio.

Still, she's got the rest of the term off sitting at home doing nothing on full pay, which she must have known would happen when she behaved so unprofessionally on the radio, so maybe she's leading by example?

People really need other hobby's rather then getting angry about teachers. If people put this amount of effort into other things the world would be much nicer.

Well it's HER fault if they were!!!!

Speaking as a teacher myself, I can honestly say that every single teacher at my school has worked their arses off during lockdown! We remained open (& still are) from 8am - 6pm every day for key worker children & the minute the government allowed it, we had a workable plan in place & welcomed back every single year group.

Throughout those first 10wks, as well as being on a rota for being in school with key worker children, we contacted every one of our children every single week, provided a huge amount of work for home schooling, emailed & gave feedback daily, sent out a weekly newsletter, weekly achievement certificates, daily Parentmails, daily Twitter updates, gave individual support, adapted work to suit every level of ability, made a funny video featuring EVERY staff member which we emailed to every child...the list is endless. All while most of us have been home schooling OUR OWN children as well!!

So, for those who love to slate teachers & feel we have failed their children...it's NOT one size fits all...SOME schools may well have failed their children but NOT ALL OF US!!!! Some of us have literally risked our own health & that of our own small children to care for & educate yours!!!!!! The whole 'blanket' teacher bashing makes me beyond f@cking angry. 😡

I agree we should be really angry at the parents whose kids have not been supported or taught, bastards complaining how dare they!
