I hate having too much food in the fridge.

This has become more evident since I have been on furlough but having a lot of food in the fridge actually stresses me out. I feel a genuine sense of relief when it gets emptier.

It's only my DH and I so we don't have the big amounts that a larger family might. I do the shopping so I know what I'm buying and I plan out our menu for the week. What's wrong with me? I've started shopping every couple of days now (which I know isn't ideal) so I don't have lots of food around.

NB definitely no eating disorders here. Also -before anyone tells me how lucky I am - I am fully aware of this after a period of homelessness when I was younger. I know the value of being able to have access to food.

God yes, me too. It makes me worry that food will get wasted because it’s gone off in the back. I meal plan quite thoroughly to avoid waste, and it makes me feel so much better when we get to the end of the week and there’s very little left.

Thank you. Just reading of these responses is helping me uncover some thoughts.

I love a full fridge but also love the feeling of judging it just right so that when the groceries are delivered the fridge is juuust about empty but we’ve have eaten well for the previous meal. Like a perfect meal of odds and ends for lunch and then Boom reload!

But I have 2 small sons who are gannets and a 6ft tall husband who looks like he nothing but actuallybpowers through the calories. So it usually all gets eaten. Plus I love meal planning and have it down to a fine aet

Empty fridge is just a waste of electricity to me. I'd rather be keeping food chilled than just cooling down air for no reason. I fill it up with bottles of water as the food gets used.

Mine empties as quick as I top it up. I'm fed up of planning food and the kids eating one of the ingredients and playing fridge Jenga. Sick of shopping and ordering. But equally grateful to be well fed and happy.

I wish we had the opportunity of having a full fridge and cupboards. I'm on one meal a day maximum at the moment to ensure the rest of the family has plenty. For me it's more stressful than when I was homeless because back then it was just me to worry about. Still, I'm rich in friends and family which is more than many have.

Over crowded fridges annoy me too. I never had to deal with it until lockdown as I shopped most days.
Now I'm forever checking dates and rotating items.

Then I turn the temp down when it's jam packed and ruin the lettuce and cucumber. FFS.

WindFlower92. Well, it's in my head atm. But I'm sure there's a fridge that does similar. On some future tech programme I think.

I love it!

I expect they cost £250 down at Curry's Grin

I think there is a difference between 'fridge full and know what we will eat for the next week' and 'fridge full of stuff but nothing to make a proper meal'.

Pre-lockdown we were very, very guilty of the second; now we are very much the first which I am far more comfortable with.
