To think this 'no shampoo' trend doesn't work?

I haven't used shampoo since lockdown - thought it would be interesting to see and if not now when! I looked at a few sites and started with an apple vinegar rinse - yuck - greasy. Then I tried bicarb of soda - OK, but I seem to be washing it once a week, so is there any point? And I don't know if it is making the grease worse, like shampoo does. Can I just give up all products and use water? I have quite thick straight hair and exercise, so I can't see how just water will keep it clean. Also I colour it, so what will happen then? Does anyone find it really works?

@TheVamoosh doesn't take me much time, and the drive for me was how shit my hair looked before. I have a before pic which was a "good" hair day, using the standard shampoo, conditioner, bit of frizz ease type thing

I wash with conditioner, condition, add gel, turban hair for a bit, squeeze water out, add mousse and diffuse. The longest bit is the drying but that's never been quick!

This is before.. some of us have tricky hair, I wish I could wash it, brush and go

@TheVamoosh

(cleanser, conditioner, curl activator, mouse and gel), plus taking the time to wet plop, micro plop and dry plop before diffusing.

Sounds great for people who enjoy pseudo-scientific concepts and have a lot of time on their hands.

It really doesn't take that long. I wash with conditioner instead of shampoo and then put conditioner on hair to comb it. Rinse out and then apply whatever styling products I am using. Plop hair into an old shirt while I dry myself and then diffuse. It takes no longer than it did before I started CGM. ( No idea what all the different plops mentioned are, I have never heard of them. Plopping is just wrapping your hair up in a t shirt or microfibre towel)

@Forgottenagainst - my first foray into cowashing was hairstory at around £100 a bottle too!
Give cantu cowash or As I am cowash a try! - they're tons cheaper, about 1/10 of the price, and I find them just as good.
I also use the cantu curl activator cream, which is a bit too heavy so I water it down; again about a fiver, and I'm still only about half way through a bottle I bought two years ago.

And for those saying hair looks scuzzy and smells if not washed Shock - I frequently get stopped by complete strangers (at least once a week) to say how good my hair looks - even now when I'm desperate for the hairdressers to reopen! Last week a new colleague leant to pick something up beside me and said how amazing my hair smelt.

I will definitely try! I’d rather not have this £100 habit. Though I never got to the hairdresser so feel I save there !

@dragonglass - wet plopping is plopping wet hair in a shower cap, micro plopping is using a microfiber towel or t shirt to gently squeeze water out of your hair and dry plopping is wrapping your hair in a t shirt or microfiber towel.

All 3 in that order works really well for low porosity hair.
