To ask if anything went wrong on your wedding day?

OP posts:
Twizzleisadancer · 25/06/2020 19:28

yes a few things but you know what its all part of the course and its the marriage that matters!

worst was my husband put the wrong version of the hymns lyrics in the order of service! hence we were all singing a different song to what the organist was playing! would have been quite funny if it had just been the one hymn but it was 2! silly DH had looked up the american versions by mistake and used their lyrics.

teenage nephew also got drunk on the table wine and threw up everywhere!

we also hired a bouncy castle from the kids that was pitched in the field at the back of the village hall we had hired, later in the evening adult men on their way to the pub were seen running and jumping on it at full force Hmm we decided to let it down after that as we didn't want it getting damaged and being charged for it

our candyfloss lady didn't turn up! however that was okay as we just filled the freezer with ice creams which worked out better :D

we still had a wonderful wonderful day, things don't have to be perfect

@Louisa298

To ask if anything went wrong on your wedding day?
Yes, I ended up marrying the bastard.
Snaketime · 25/06/2020 19:30

Yes the DJ was late because the roads were closed and he had to turn around and come a different way and a few people didnt turn up that we were expecting, I only had 2 hours sleep (I had been up 24 hours by the time I got to bed and I woke up on the morning to find I had lost my voice. Still had an amazing day though, we just rolled with it, shrugged it off and enjoyed the day.

TisConfusion · 25/06/2020 19:31

The music kept cutting out as I walked down the aisle, I found it really funny.
One of DHs relatives, a rather large man, broke a wooden chair at the evening reception. I didn’t see it happen though!
And apparently one of DHs work colleagues was drunk and pushed another of his work colleagues into the toilets - not sure what happened then. Didn’t see that either!

Onebabyandamadcat · 25/06/2020 19:31

@Merryoldgoat I know! I walked into the room and was speechless. I was so taken aback by them it didn't occur to me to ask for them to be move. In our wedding video they have pride of place at the start when the video shows all the details in the room.

By the end of the night they were being thrown round the dance floor. I can (mainly) laugh about it now.

isurvived3under2 · 25/06/2020 19:32

Very minor but we forgot to cut the cake, and we didn't take any photos with our dog. Which seems silly but I still feel bad about (the dog pics, not the cake!)

BadAlice · 25/06/2020 19:34

The ladies running the bar didn’t realise it as a free bar (PIL were picking up the tab) all afternoon/day and were charging people for drinks initially. Not a massive deal but a bit embarrassing/akward. There were drinks on the table so they assumed it would open after the table drinks were done.

DamitJanet · 25/06/2020 19:34

A few little things, but nothing I really cared about on the day when it came down to it.

Purpleartichoke · 25/06/2020 19:35

The fire alarm went off multiple times during cocktails. We didn’t have to evacuate because they knew it was a malfunction (and there was a bitter freezing storm outside), but it was still not fun.

Noidea2114 · 25/06/2020 19:37

My mum and dad had an argument. He broke his glasses.
We were called the wrong names. Best man had a few tricks for his speech nothing worked.
Dh lost his wallet with our honeymoon money in.
We arranged for some of our guests to go home on a coach it broke down and our guests ended up walking.(it was a very long way)
We were staying in our new home and the door key broke, we ended up at dhs parents house.
Came back from honeymoon and realised no-one brought our gifts home. Fortunately they were still at the venue 2 weeks later.

Otherwise it was a brilliant day and even after 41 years we would still do it again.

Zoecarter · 25/06/2020 19:37

The registar forgot to sign our marriage license. Luckily he noticied when fileing it and came back. I technically got married when my husband and me weren’t together 😂😂😂

LandMoor · 25/06/2020 19:37

My hoop broke on my lovely dress as I was at the top of the aisle. Ended up lifting it up and running down it whilst my dad trailed behind me Blush

It wasn't the end of the world though and had an otherwise lovely day. Only annoying thing was I'd spent a fortune on alterations!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 25/06/2020 19:38

Fancy limousine developed a rapidly deflating tyre just as I emerged from the house.
Totally flat in a minute.
Driver opened boot and there was no spare tyre

Carravaggio · 25/06/2020 19:38

Quite a bit...

Nurse I had booked to mind DS cancelled with the flu. So I missed my reception meal and didn’t get down to the party until night nurse took over at 10.30.
FIL ended up in hospital night before with infection. After church we had to go visit him and we missed our champagne arrival. I was most gutted about this as we had mulled wine, scones and a swing singer booked that I saw none of.
Bridesmaid was Sick so couldn’t stay the night before. The security tag was still on her dress and I had to cut it off & then noticed the zip was broke so had to sew her in. All while trying to get ready.
DM had insisted on drinks for her friends in my house that morning, didn’t turn up and was even late to the church. Bitch.
At reception teetotal MIL had a tray of champagne spilled down her back & was soaked! BIL was to give speech but had stomach bug so never arrived. 6 guests were no show due to illness but all on the one table - so 2 guests left sitting alone with free drink for 8 Grin
Best man lost his jacket with payment for DJ in cash inside.

Apparently a good wedding even if I did miss most of it.

Bloomburger · 25/06/2020 19:39

I ignored the sign from God, the most massive rainstorm with loud thunder claps and dreadful forks of lightening and married the bastard.

rosegoldivy · 25/06/2020 19:39

Very outing but halarious.

My maid of honour instead of taking a heartburn tablet took a strong sleeping tablet just before getting into the bridal car on the way to the venue hahaha

She was on redbulls fighting it and has some very dodgy photos of her hahaha

ClaraEccles · 25/06/2020 19:39

Bridesmaid set herself on fire.

She was fine, (thanks to the best man grabbing her and putting her out).

Fatted · 25/06/2020 19:41

We didn't have anything terrible happen. We forgot a few things for the tables, I lost a nail and a few people got a bit too drunk, but nothing too bad.

At a friends wedding, the photographer had a car accident on the way between the church and reception venue. He still took all of the photos with a bleeding head wound!

This is still my favourite wedding disaster story. Although someone I worked with was meant to be getting married there shortly afterwards

Skigal86 · 25/06/2020 19:41

When I read this, my first thought was nope, everything was perfect, then I remembered the rain, the arsehole supplier who was rude to me and most of the guests and fucked off an hour early and forgetting to put my fancy headband back on after dinner for our couple pictures.

But actually, those things don’t really matter, we have lovely pictures on the veranda and of me splashing through puddles in my wellies, we eventually got a refund on the photobooth (I’d rather have had all the photos they lost though!) and the headband made my head hurt anyway.

The bits I do remember and think of often are the look on my friends dads face when she caught the bouquet, walking into church and my scouts being there with the flags after the other leaders had told me that none of them could make it and our friends bringing us wedding cake and singing at our door after we’d gone to bed.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/06/2020 19:43

It pissed down all day. In August.

The wedding car had to stop at the church and ask the groom for directions to my parents' house.

The DJ at the reception was appalling. He was NOT advertised as 'The Tommy Tomato Experience', believe me 🙄

doublemix · 25/06/2020 19:43

I fell and broke my elbow had barely had a drink so wasn't even drunk when it happened just caught my foot in the front of my dress and tripped! carried on and went to a&e the next morning and had a sling for 6 weeks.

whiteroseredrose · 25/06/2020 19:44

Oh yes.

I'd organised a taxi for (now) DH to take him and best man to the venue. They didn't know and walked so all the way there I could hear the conversation between my taxi driver and theirs trying to find them. I thought I'd been stood up.

Then DH's other best friend was in a major motorway crash and arrived about 2 hours late having hitched the rest of the way.

One of my friends' veil blew off and got stuck in a tree on the morning of her wedding just as she approached the church.

Pinkstars2501 · 25/06/2020 19:44

Yeh!
I tripped over my hoop walking up the aisle. My mum tied it lower than the lady in the shop when they were fitting my dress, none of us noticed until that moment. That's on video.

A friend had to leave as her child started projectile vomiting just before the ceremony. It was HOT that day and the kid had been running about enjoying the grounds all morning. It meant a quick shuffle of the table arrangement but it worked out fine.

That's it I think...

BikeRunSki · 25/06/2020 19:45

The restaurant staff forgot to offer the gluten free snacks I’d got in especially for my mums best friend who is coeliac and diabetic! I realised though and got them for her, as she was nibbling rice crackers.

DSis and DBiL had a big fight. DSiL was on DSis’s side, while DBro tooK DBiL for a walk.
I only heard about thus later.

Another couple lost their car keys.

fairydustandpixies · 25/06/2020 19:45

Yep. I turned up.
