I'm getting really pi55ed off about this situation & I don't know what else I can do about it. Help please!

Ex partner moved out over 2yrs ago, had a vehicle which was registered to my house but when it was sold to mate, didn't do log book. Don't know why. Anyway his mate has been driving around & parks in those NTC places, the ticket fine keeps coming to my house. In the past I forwarded to my ex. But this kept going on & on & I get getting them at my house. I then kept returning the letters back saying on the envelope' does not live at this address' or 'gave the house number & postcode of ex's house so they would go direct. Their legal team has taken over & despite either forwarding or returning the post, the letters still keep coming to my house. The last one, I opened & printed off the address from the Internet from 192.com to prove his name & address. Thought, this had all stopped finally..until today! Another legal letter has come through.

I think this is harassment. Can I get the police involved now, it's been going on over 6 months possibly 9 months now?

Even though the vehicle is sold it is still registered to your ex at your address. You need to dig out the log book and tell your ex that unless he gets it changed you'll inform the DVLA. Hopefully he could be liable for a fine for not notifying them of the changes.

It’s up to a £1,000 fine if you don’t notify the DVLA of a change of address. Report him.

I don't know what he did with the log book. He reckons he told dvla that he doesn't have the vehicle anymore, I can't tell if he's telling the truth or just being damn lazy. Can I forward the legal letter to dvla for them to deal with my ex?

Of course he's not telling the truth. If they'd updated the address on their records then you wouldn't keep receiving fines and stuff related to the vehicle.

I would most certainly forward DVLA the letter and give them your ex's new address. It's then up to him to deal with any contact they make.

Write to the DVLA at Swansea. It'll say on their website which address to use (they have different departments around Swansea for different things).

Forward them a copy of whatever parking fine letter you get next. Give them details of when your Ex moved out, when he got rid of the car, who the new owner is, and where Ex lives now.

I used to work for the DVLA, so can vouch for their enforcement officers being used to unravelling stunts like this.

If you continue to get parking fine letters in the meantime, just keep returning to sender (not at this address), or honestly, just bin them. It's not your name on the letter, nor your vehicle. The fact that the car is currently registered at your address is meaningless. It's the name of the person that is the important bit. The company have got nothing to come at you with.

Thank you Zingally, your reply was really helpful. I will get that done today and forward onto DVLA Smile
