For my entire skeleton to hurt

onesteptwosteps · 24/06/2020 18:20

I know this sounds weird but my entire spine, shoulders and hips and joints hurt all the time and are always stiff. I do yoga and it helps slightly but not really. I take omega 3 supplements etc. I have been putting it down to 2 pregnancies and the strains of lifting children etc but sometimes I wonder if other people feel this too or if it's just me. I don't have any underlying health conditions that I know of. It doesn't seem to get better or worse with massages etc.

Do other people have this??

Could it be some sort of arthritis? Doesn't sound entirely normal to me but obviously I'm no expert.

I do have arthritis though, which affects large areas of my body.

barcodescanner · 24/06/2020 18:38

I have just been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica. Similar symptoms alongside chronic back pain. Get some bloods done

EnterNight · 24/06/2020 18:43

Are you hypermobile? I have joint hyper mobility syndrome and have similar issues. Everything aches depending on what I've been doing, I wake up in the night in agony with my hands. My entire body is stiff.
If I overdo things I can crash the next day as I've exhausted myself. (thats coming tomorrow I suspect from a day gardening)

See your GP for bloods as has been suggested.

8dayweek · 24/06/2020 18:48

Have you had a blood test? My DM had similar and the Doc discovered she had ridiculously low Vitamin D levels. She said her "bones ached" (like she could feel it inside her bones IYSWIM) and she also had weak nails etc.

onesteptwosteps · 24/06/2020 18:50

Hmm will see GP as suggested. Just weird tho cos I've had various blood tests during pregnancies and they've never thrown anything up? Maybe they didn't test for the right stuff though? I take a high strength vit d. I'd say I've felt like this for years but has got steadily worse. It's not localised in a way that I feel could be arthritis... I'll look up the other conditions you mention

I feel similar and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

I'd say my pain is more in the muscles, though. Stiff sore muscles, like I did a heavy workout yesterday. Also prone to injuries- both shoulders, elbow, hip, shin splints, plantar fasciitis. It's a over sensitivity to pain/symptoms.

Confrontayshunme · 24/06/2020 19:03

I had the same thing about two years ago, and a friend recommended a few sessions of weights/dumbbell/resistance training each week. My back stopped hurting after less than a month. The achiness was because my lower back and core and leg muscles were so weak after a few pregnancies that I couldn't actually hold myself up without feeling discomfort in my spine, SI joints, hips and neck.

User56781234 · 24/06/2020 19:03

I'm sorry you're going through this, OP. It can make your life an absolute misery. In addition to Vitamin D tests, I'd recommend asking your doctor to test for underactive thyroid and ferritin deficiency. Both can cause aching bones and joints.

Ginfordinner · 24/06/2020 19:07

Please see your GP and get some bloods done. This isn't normal. I'm 61 and don't have this issue.

onesteptwosteps · 24/06/2020 19:56

I'm definitely hyper mobile in my hips, so that may play a role, and my back is probably hyper mobile too I think. I've been told before that it's unusually bendy in places but then too rigid in others.

I'm sure I could do with some weight training, maybe that would help. Although my core isn't terrible.

Weird you should post this as this evening I have been wondering about the very same thing. I wake up aching and it actually hurts to move, then gradually gets better in the day but by the evening, I feel like I've been beaten up.
As you say, it feels like my skeleton is hurting!!! Sympathy for you.

Lolwhat · 24/06/2020 20:26

Yes, I have whalers danios syndrome, constant pain

romdowa · 24/06/2020 20:27

If you have hyper mobility then yoga is awful for that. Pilates is better as it doesnt increase your flexibility. You want to be building muscle instead to help keep your joints stable.

picklemewalnuts · 24/06/2020 21:10

Tai chi is good. You can't injure yourself- or I would have! I'm gradually getting stronger.

onesteptwosteps · 25/06/2020 06:12

@babycornplease yes that's it. Sorry you're feeling the same 😕

I've looked up Ehlers Danlos and while I definitely have a couple of the symptoms I don't think I have enough to be diagnosed with that... and wouldn't I have been diagnosed in childhood?? I don't think anyone in my family has it either.

Polymyalgia rheumatica - again some of the symptoms but not all. And apparently it's most common in age 60+ and I'm mid thirties.

It sort of feels like if only I could get more rest I would feel better but actually it doesn't go away if I get more rest. Obviously it's better than if I've had a completely exhausting day though.

Sorry for you all who are coping with chronic pain too

Also mid thirties. I thought it was down to an old mattress, the stress of working full time and heaving a toddler about (single parent to boot), but changed mattress, obviously been in lockdown so haven't been doing the normal physical day to day stuff, except heaving afore said toddler about. Haven't got time to do any exercise due to working from home at the moment... and I don't have time normally either, but I used to be really active before I found myself in this position.

It seems that every morning I wake up hurting in a different place, and it changes throughout the day. This morning it's my hips and my shoulders. Feels like they are about to click, if you know what I mean.

Also googled Ehlers Danlos, and like you, I've got a few symptoms but doubt it would be diagnosed. It just makes me feel really tired and grouchy all the time Sad

Adirondack · 25/06/2020 09:15

I get this. Mine is related to menopause

ittakes2 · 25/06/2020 09:18

Take Vit D

EnterNight · 25/06/2020 09:42

@ittakes2

Take Vit D
Right there in OPs second post.

I take a high strength vit d

Zooxanthellae · 25/06/2020 11:26

Something else to try would be to cut out gluten from your diet. If it is going to help you would feel a difference in two or three weeks. I had achiness in every joint and coincidentally cut out gluten for other reasons. One of the benefits was that my joints stopped hurting. I feel so much better now I might even start exercising. It wasn't possible before because of stiffness and pain. I feel like I have my youth back.

picklemewalnuts · 25/06/2020 11:42

Do you feel your sleep is refreshing?
Part of Fibro is feeling like you've not slept properly, but being unable to sleep well even when you get the opportunity.

damnthatanxiety · 25/06/2020 13:15

How old are you? Perimenopause can cause joint, tendon and muscle pain

onesteptwosteps · 25/06/2020 13:30

Yes when I get sleep I do feel refreshed and the pain is usually slightly better for a while.

I wonder if it could be perimenopause. Although I started having symptoms like this in my late twenties and since then have had two kids. I won't rule that out though. I'm mid thirties
