Using your husbands toothbrush?

Just spent a productive afternoon discovering the delights of Real Housewives of Dallas and Stephanie's husband bought her a new toothbrush as part of an anniversary present to stop her from using his Confused
AIBU to think that sharing food debris, plaque and morning mouth grot with your beloved is beyond gross?

I've never used anyone else's toothbrush and I wouldn't expect anyone else to use mine.

Toothbrushes aren't for sharing.

KitKat2020 · 23/06/2020 20:57

I’ve only used his toothbrush by accident, or in a pinch if I’ve forgotten mine on a weekend away ( before getting to a shop).

I like my own toothbrush. We replace regularly, but mine are always in better nick, he brushes too hard.

Dominicgoings · 23/06/2020 21:08

Have done the ‘I thought the pink one was mine’ thing too 😂

Wouldn't bother me, I've used my mates before on a weekend away 🤷‍♂️

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 23/06/2020 21:13

I do actually find it totally gross but my husband often borrows mine - yuck!!!

7dayslater · 23/06/2020 21:15

It's a bit icky, but not gross. Depends on oral hygiene I think.

VictoriaBun · 23/06/2020 21:17

It's a no from me .

Sparklybanana · 23/06/2020 21:27

hold on - mumsnet thinks taking less than a shower a day is totally minging but sharing a toothbrush is ok? The mouth is one of the best ways for bacteria and viruses to enter the body and a toothbrush is full of germs especially if your partner has dubious oral hygiene. GROSS.

Dominicgoings · 23/06/2020 21:54

Especially if it’s sat right near the loo and people flush with the lid up 😉

He's my husband wouldn't fuss me at all as long as he rinses it. We share a toothbrush but change the heads on it. He's my husband, I kiss his mouth don't see the issue.

Harveypuss · 23/06/2020 22:44

Yuk! I've always had a thing about this. Don't know why. Blow job, no problem - shared toothbrushes, bleugh!!

Wizadorawobble · 23/06/2020 22:51

So putting his dick in your mouth is ok but not his toothbrush?

Dicks don't have plaque and food debris on them.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 23/06/2020 22:53

That gives me the boak. I use a toothbrush to clean my teeth, so I don't want someone else to have cleaned the stuff off their teeth before me. I don't give DP a blow job to clean my mouth.

Redglitter · 23/06/2020 22:57

I was outed as being in a relationship with a colleague once due to toothbrush sharing. We were away on a weekend away 10 of us who worked together. I rather randomly realised during the evening id forgotten my toothbrush. He said I could use his and I said I would and I'd buy one the next morning. It was only when our colleagues started laughing we realised we'd outed ourselves. None of them knew we'd started seeing each other

octobersky19 · 23/06/2020 23:01

I used my husbands last week, I'd stayed overnight at my mums and left it in my overnight bag in the car. I'm alone with the baby so have limited time to get ready, quickly used husbands and told him.

He wasn't too happy, but he wasn't massively peeved he just asked why, I told him why and that's it.

I felt a bit stupid really, wouldn't do it again. I wouldn't mind at all if he used mine.

Zoomintheroom · 23/06/2020 23:01

No YABU - it's absolutely revolting.

Immigrantsong · 23/06/2020 23:02

Yes it is very yucky. Yanbu.

CRISPSWARS · 23/06/2020 23:04

All of it's disgusting - dicks in the mouth and toothbrushes! But the toothbrush thing gives me even more major boak.

AttackoftheVapours · 23/06/2020 23:05

I might use it to clean the taps if I was really cross with him 😂

FarTooSkinny · 23/06/2020 23:37

I use my DH's toothbrush for cleaning off the really stuck on cruddy bits in the toilet. Works a treat

Dominicgoings · 24/06/2020 07:05

Much more effective than a loo brush Wink
