My work and DH's work are both talking about planning xmas lunches and nights out this year as pubs etc apparently will be open.

AIBU to think not a chance am I going on any xmas night out this year?

(I hate the bastards anyway)

@Thewomeninthemirror well you've blown Christmas then!! Two days after the longest day of the year and no turkey ordered... shocking!

Drivingdownthe101 · 23/06/2020 13:40

@nextslideplease

I'm just wondering what others think about their own xmas do. Would they feel safe going?
I’ve no idea whether I will feel safe about something that is happening in 6 months time. I might have more of an idea in 5.5 months or so.

We will no doubt do our Xmas Meals but will hold out on parties until we get nearer time

herecomesthsun · 23/06/2020 13:51

I am thinking zoom Xmas parties might be fun!! and people with the energy/ inclination/ tolerance of risk can go for meals out if it's alright at the time

Drivingdownthe101 · 23/06/2020 14:02

A Zoom Christmas party sounds like my idea of hell Grin

I have a close friend who I don’t think is ever going out again. ☹️ Which is all well and good but she’s condemning the rest of us for wanting to get on with our lives and there are lots of snide little comments that quite frankly I’m getting pissed off with. She and I had a number of things booked from October to Christmas and she’s letting me down on every one. Obviously, up to her. I won’t try and persuade her. People can do what they like, lockdown for ever as far as I’m concerned. But they can fuck off expecting everyone else to join them in their misery.

Xmas Works Do?

Dear Lord, no.

You lot are even ahead of QVC's Christmas Shop.

Zhampagne · 23/06/2020 14:08

If a global pandemic doesn't stop the issue of Christmas being raised in June then truly nothing ever will.

DopamineHits · 23/06/2020 14:17

I have concerns we'll get a Covid-19 revival when temperatures drop. I'm going to start being cautious from November. I still vividly remember how sick I was in January with something similar, I'm going to be super careful.

mindutopia · 23/06/2020 14:19

It sounds like someone is just bored and trying to create a work task for themselves. I quite like a good christmas do and ours was fantastic last year. But hell if I would be planning it in June!

I think we got a doodle poll to arrange a date in mid-November for 2nd week of December. I couldn't plan further ahead than about that.

But you don't have to go, if you don't want. Or just say, we'll let ya know in November, thanks.

Roselilly36 · 23/06/2020 14:20

Nothing like forward planning 😂 why don’t we enjoy the heatwave and think about Xmas do’s later! For a lot of people Xmas do’s being potentially cancelled won’t be a huge disappointment.

Bargainhuntbore · 23/06/2020 14:21

Im definitely going to mine - if Wales opens the pubs by Christmas 😁

I started working at my new job 4 weeks before last Christmas and i was made most welcome, so this year I’ll know more people so I’ll have a good time!

GarlicMcAtackney · 23/06/2020 14:31

I’d rather slam my tits in a car door than attend organised ‘fun’ shite like that. I won’t even need the virus as an excuse, because I usually just say ‘no.’ when asked if I’m going to crap like that. ‘Aww why?’ ‘Can’t.’ (Because I don’t want to :) )

Bluesheep8 · 23/06/2020 15:52

There is absolutely no way I’m going to spend time in June thinking about whether there’ll be an infectious risk in December.

Exactly!

SecondStarFromTheRight · 23/06/2020 15:54

It's June. Who has the headspace for this right now?

Oh would you really? I did that once. Well, only one tit. I didn’t know whether to cry or throw up. It didn’t half hurt. 😂
