To be totally floored by first trimester fatigue??

I'm about 6 weeks pregnant and I am SO FUCKING TIRED. This is my second pregnancy and I'm sure I only felt this feeble in the third trimester last time! I'm quite a bit fatter now, could that be why I'm so much harder hit? I also have nausea (no vomitting) whereas last time I was very secretly smug about having no sickness at all!

Seriously I'm supposed to be working but I'm so groggy today, worst day yet... Why is this so hard second time round??

Ps I know if could be so much worse, not looking for sympathy, just don't understand why it's so different to baby 1! Is it completely random?

@summerfish I always have all the symptoms of anaemia (freezing cold all the time mostly) but wheneveri get my bloods done I'm told I'm 'borderline but healthy'. I try to eat a lot of leafy green veg! But definitely worht keeping an eye on in pregnancy, thanks for the reminder (I got flagged as anaemic by the midwife team last pregnancy but the doctor wouldn't prescribe as he said I was 'within the range of normal' Hmm)

This is my first pregnancy so nothing to compare it to but I definitely felt the first trimester tiredness. I was really lucky in that I only got occasional nausea, that wasn’t too bad, but the tiredness was unreal. I felt like I had the flu. I also struggled to sleep between needing to wee a lot and feeling really anxious about it all (something I’m now revisiting in the last few weeks of pregnancy!) so that didn’t help.

I got married at 9 weeks, it did take the edge off slightly. I look at our pictures now and just think I look knackered and bloated. Adrenaline did kick in on the day though and I managed to have a truly fabulous day even if I did spend pretty much the entire honeymoon either in the bath or asleep in the cottage we hired.

Nearly 36 weeks now and I’m tired again, but still not quite like it was in the first 12-14 weeks or so.

Whinge away OP. I hope it passes quickly for you.

@drownininplaymobil I was definitely leaning against the wall a bit this morning! I normally love hot baths and hot showers, but at the moment they make me feel hideously nauseous and like I'm going to pass out. Not too long until I won't be able to sleep on my front (my favourite position) any more either. Someone remind me why I wanted to do this again??? Grin

Oh god there is no tiredness like the first trimester tiredness. I found it harder with dc no 2 as well because having a small child to look after is tiring enough as it is. I second what a pp said about the tiredness getting right into your bones, it's like nothing else I've ever experienced.

I was less tired during my pregnancies with girls, and more tired (and nauseous) during pregnancy with a boy - it definitely made a difference in my case.

Oh I was exhausted 1st trimester, I had a job where I had to get up at 5am and work till 3pm. When I got home at 3.15 I'd sleep till 6 and then go to bed at 8 Grin it did get better after 16 weeks!

Oh I feel for you OP. The first trimester of my second pregnancy was hell, I remember some days not being able to lift my head off the pillow. My GP sent me for a blood test but they were fine. DP had to hold me up walking into my booking in appt. Midwife joked with me about twins (it wasn’t) because I didn’t feel like that during my first pregnancy, my midwife actually questioned DP as to whether he was the father of my first (he is but apparently different fathers can affect how a woman’s pregnancy goes). In the end I was told “it’s pregnancy”. The fatigue lifted at about 14/15 weeks. Then at 29 weeks I was diagnosed with anaemia which came as a shock as I felt fine. Most bizarre pregnancy.

The main differences before my two pregnancies were that my first I was in my early 30s, very fit and active and a healthy weight. My second pregnancy I was late 30s, not as fit and active and about a stone and half heavier.

OP hope you feel better sooner, it will lift it’s just shit whilst you’re going through it.

Well here's to therapeutic power of whinging - I feel so much better today! First day I've woken up and wanted to get out of bed in weeks :) Not quite up to Juillian Michaels, but still! And no nausea today either. HURRAH!

Thanks all for the kind messages, and for no-one just telling me to pull myself together - what a lovely lot you are :)
