Anyone had to fly from London in the last few weeks? How weird or not weird has it been?
Need fly from London ( major airport) this week - and wondering how it will be. DP a bit twitchy that I’m flying.

I haven't but I would in a heartbeat!

Looked on the airport website and the only advice is to bring a face covering... and all else seems normal

I’m really not that worried, DP is for me but it can’t me much worse that being in the supermarket where no one wears masks and touches stuff all the time

I am only planning to do Europe this year and will be driving everywhere.
Love T5 but got really pissed off with BA handling COVID

If you are long haul, I would fly. Hygiene is not their forte so never thought it could get worse...

I wish I were you

DP is flying to Rome and back this week. He doesn't even have to quarantine as the type of work he's travelling for is exempt (he will though, just to be safe).

Can’t offer advice only support. If they abadon the quarantene I’d be flying my dc to my parents asap and I’d expect mask and gel everywhere and diatancing. I think it would be quite civilised actually.

Please do let is know.

Airport security is grim at the best of times. I would wash hands when I get to the airport, and once through security ideally after wiping whatever has gone through the scanners with an antibacterial wipe. I'd be very careful, likewise on the plane.

You make your own risk assessment.

BarbaraofSeville · 22/06/2020 09:16

Where are you flying? If it's somewhere like Inverness, the Isle of Man or Belfast, I'd probably do it, providing I want to go on the trip, because so few people have COVID-19 now, that chances are that you won't be at risk of catching it from anyone that you're in contact with.

However, if you're going abroad, what puts me off even thinking about overseas travel at the moment is that most travel insurance won't cover you for anything because of the 'only essential travel' advisory in place. Plus if restaurants etc aren't open and the 2 week quarantine requirement that's in place for the return journey. That's what currently concerns me more than the act of getting on a plane. Although it would feel weird to be in close proximity to another person, because I haven't been in that position with anyone except DP for months.

No quarantine, another U.K. city where the levels are far lower than England.
I was wondering what the airports were like and if I need to leave more time, can eat etc
