To do anything about bed wetting

8 replies

TheVoiceOfReasonableness · 20/06/2020 11:12

DD’s 11, 8 and 6 are not dry at night. All 3 in Dry Nites though 11 y.o. is only wet about once a week so will probably not need them soon.

Given she is growing out of it, are the other two likely to at the same age, or am I damaging them by not doing anything about it?

At that age yes because if Covid wasn’t around they could be doing sleepovers and then it happens. I think they all need to be seen by the gp.

Yes I would see the GP for advice. I wet the bed until 13 and not fully dry at night until 14 and I wish my parents had done something about it rather than ignore (and shout at me about it).

My DS(5) still wets the bed and once NHS services are under less strain I will asking for a referral to a bed wetting clinic as I am concerned he has inherited it from me, plus I don’t want him to be ridiculed when he starts sleepovers etc.

Thanks. Any ideas on what the GP could do about it?

@Thisischaos

I’m sorry you were treated so badly as a child. I’ve never shouted at or sought to embarrass mine- just assumed they would outgrow it and all of a sudden eldest is in year 6...! The time creeps up on you.

Should have mentioned, I have googled but there’s so much differing advice I’m properly confused as to whether it’s an issue or not

Yes - at those ages I would consultant the doctor.

Have a look at this website OP.

Sorry I don't know how to link properly on the app. I discovered the site on here when my DD was still wet at night at age 5.

I saw a GP for my 4.5 year old who wasn’t dry at night (she was also having tummy aches) - I got some really useful information and she’s now 6.5 and dry barring very occasional accidents. There are all sorts of little things that can be tweaked that make a difference and so some medical issues that have to be eliminated.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

I’d be grateful if this thread could be deleted. One of my IRL friends pointed out that there are wee and poo pervs out there who follow these threads.

I’ve also just discovered that MN has a whole Potty Training section which has lots of useful advice on this topic.
