I keep seeing this now. OP posts something, people respond and then someone (sometimes more) comes along and says 'Ignore the posters who blah blah blah'. In other words 'ignore everyone who disagrees with me'. Can't these people have a conversation or debate with anyone? It's really rather rude.

Dear reader, I should should say that I'm really not terribly worried by this, it's just a mild annoyance because I think it's a cop out for proper conversation.

But then I've come to realise Mumsnet is not the place to have mature, intellectual discussions about disagreeing opinions
Yes it fucking is.

If they are trolls or stupid then it's the right thing to do.

Some of the medical advice on here is dangerous.

I think it's a very necessary phrase. Many people come on here absolutely talking through their arses about something they know nothing about and totally misleading the OP. Of course it's rude. It's meant to be!

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 20/06/2020 08:14

op ignore the rude bastards!

no, actually i think it is fair enough for someone to have someone's back on an AIBU, usually, after the dreaded pile on

Just to be clear, I'm in no way advocating a pile on. 😆 I think it's a relatively new phrase on here, or I've certainly only noticed it the last 18 months or so. If I see a poster being an arse to another user I'd be far more likely to give that particular person a sound 'fuck off' than a general wafting of 'OP ignore everyone else'. To be fair I have no objection to anyone telling someone to ignore someone for being a twat, I only object to it if it's just because they have a different opinion to them. I should have made that clear in my OP and I didn't.

Agreed. Though I have no clue why anyone would seek out medical advice on an internet forum father than through the right channels. That in itself is dangerous I think.

"Fuck off Poster" tends to be deleted if reported.

@Pelleas you might be amazed how many times they're not. 😂😂😂
