My 5 Yr old son has been refused a reception place. Has anyone else been refused a place?

Sec told me we weren't vulnerable or key workers so tough.

My year 2 DD is back, as are most of her class. No need to be a key worker.

Op, I'm still not clear, did you request a place when it was originally offered?

Typo, year 1 DD, not year 2.

Sorry.

This is the most relevant question to the thread.

Did you ask origonally for the place?

Did you ask why there was no place?

Yes originally asked. Yes, asked in writing. I'm OK about it. Schools incredibly clique. Unsurprised tbh

Is this in England? What on earth is happening? It sounds like pure chaos. Has Mad Max been appointed Education minister? If it's back to school and learning, rather than child care, why is it okay to leave some children out?

People really knock the Scottish education system up here but my DC are due back to school in August. I know which days they will be at school, I know who their teachers are, I know the home learning arrangements and we've been on chatting to the class and the teachers via the app.
I know which classroom they will be in and how many other people will be there with them. I've even been sent the plan for which door they have to use to avoid congestion.

Our primary let us know that it was basically first come first served so that nice the 15 children's spaces were filled for each bubble, if someone replied after the deadline they couldn't get a space. It's a small primary with just over 200 students and they simply don't have space

Zombies different schools have managed things differently and of course you hear more about the ones that have struggled or annoyed people. What a lot of schools have done is asked everyone if they want a place this term and then sorted bubbles. In many cases the message has been 'we can't guarantee you a space if you wish to return later'. So whilst it is frustrating if your circumstances have changed, you were given fair warning. My DD has been back 4 days a week since the start of June. They have allowed extra children into the bubbles later on but I think they have in mind a maximum of 10 (as it's nursery) so could in theory become full and say no to people.

The earlier school holidays also work in Scotland's favour in this context Zombies, notwithstanding NS's no nonsense approach.
