AIBU?

to think this isn’t an emergency. Leg lump, pictures!

I have a lump that’s grown on my leg. It’s behind my knee, and is about 3mm across. My sister has had a look and says to see the doc, but the practice has no appointments except for “clinical emergency.” Sis has said that this is urgent, I think she’s over reacting.

Thoughts please!

This is defo not a bite. It’s not itchy. It just flakes a bit.

The flaky skin was what gave me pause. I'd be concerned that it was the early stages of a squamous cell carcinoma.

These are fast growing and need early treatment. Right now? I'd go private if you can.

My husband had a lump on his chest. We called the surgery. The nurse did a video call back to look at it and he was offered an appointment with a specialist GP the next day. Don't just assume the practice is closed entirely. They are just operating in a different way.

PS. his lump was fine in the end but the surgery were not prepared to take any chances, as well they shouldn't.

I had a growth of my forehead recently. GP looked at it over a video call and referred me to a skin specialist on a 2 week wait. They then took a history and a load of photos so the dermatologist could review it faster and remotely. Whole thing was very swift. Luckily it was nothing sinister.

Glad you got GP to look at a picture. I think they are all just operating differently. I had a mark and sent a picture to my GP who referred me straight to consultant x

I'd get it checked

How quickly did it come up OP?

I think you should get it checked too.

However, my DD had one of these just above her knee cap a couple of years ago and got it removed. What came out was a pale lump like a baked bean. The bean got checked and it was not cancerous. Just a bean shaped lump :)
Which hasn't come back incidentally.

Go to the pharmacist.

They can do consultations and in most areas book you an OOH GP/practice nurse appointment if necessary.

Good idea just get it seen to. I went as I was worried about a mole on my back (im quite moley) then when Dr looked it was fine, but she saw another mole and I ended up getting that one taken of so guess you never know. Mole tested was ok thankfully

I'd show the pharmacist whilst waiting for the GP. They are very good usually. How fast has it grown?

Just a thought.do you go to a gym or wear skirts or shorts (anything above the knee)? When you sit down its common for warts to transmit to this area as it touches the seat edge (gyms and pools are particularly bad culprits).

That bit of me rarely gets fresh air let alone daylight. I don’t think I’ve caught it, as such.
