to be annoyed my Sister gives my DS who has a nut allergy a kiss after she ate nuts

I found out today my DS has a nut allergy aswell as eczema. My sister drops off DD from Ballet with my niece at my place and I tell her about finding out DS has a nut allergy.

About 5 minutes later she says her goodbyes and kisses DD and DS on the lips THEN tells me she ate nuts just before dropping the kids off (shock]. She says laughing "oh, I hope his lips won't swell up or anything". .

AIBU to be annoyed she did this???

Is it possible she genuinely forgot what I had told her in the space of 5 minutes?

Is it possible she may not realise how sensitive those with nut allergies can be, that a tiny weeny trace can be enough?

no, YANBU

littleboo · 24/09/2007 19:54

Yes I'd be annoyed
maybe she does have short term memory loss???
but really prob isn't aware how dangerous just a trace of nut can be to someone with the allergy

LittleBella · 24/09/2007 19:58

No I'd be effing livid.

However, I suppose it may be that she hasn't yet got used to him having a nut allergy.

She'd better get used to it bloody soon though.

Next time you see her, give her a leaflet on the pretext that you've been given them. Just so she remembers.

yabu

i think she kissed him THEN realised what she had done

if she does it again, then yanbu but id let her off this time - i guess nothing happened?

EmsMum · 24/09/2007 20:01

I'd be a bit annoyed if anyone kissed my DD on the lips at all... do people normally do this? Eww.

[being the sort of aunty to nephews who has always let them shake hands if they preferred, only one of them is huggy kissy type]

Anyway YANBU - probably she put two and two together after the kiss and tried to laugh it off but its really not a laughing matter.

BarbieGirl · 24/09/2007 20:09

EmsMum- know what you mean about kissing on the lips but apparantly she kisses her DD (4) on the lips when she says her goodbyes so I guess it's a habit.

I put DS to bed at 7pm and I have been checking on him every 10 minutes thinking something will happen - so far so good .

I am thinking maybe (hopefully) he has a slight nut allergy if there is such a thing as I know some people are affected more seriously than my DS was.

I will be on the phone first thing to the Dermatologist tomorrow - apparantly she knows a good Allergist so DS will hopefully get in quicker.

I don't think she''d have realised. I only realised recently that pple could be so sensitive to it. Just a lapse in thought/memory not intentional I'm sure.
