To expect new bathroom to be leak free 18 months later?

Hi everyone, we had our en-suite shower room re-done 18 months ago by a local plumber. It wasn’t cheap (10k, although we’re in an expensive area!) but we didn’t mind paying as we wanted a quality job done. 18 months later there is clearly a leak underneath the shower tray which is coming through the ceiling below. Am I being unreasonable to think that the original plumber should at least come and investigate free of charge and potentially fix it too? Genuinely don’t know how long it’s reasonable to expect something to stay leak free but pretty annoyed at the prospect of having to have the shower tray ripped out so quickly as it’s going to then require re-tiling etc at a no doubt significant cost. Want to get a view of what’s a reasonable expectation before I contact him so thought I’d ask AIBU 😄

YABU - it’s been 18 months, nothing to do with the original plumber so suck it up
YANBU - good workmanship should last more than 18 months, original plumber should fix

Op I have the exact same issue but 24months! Check your agreement with the original fit - mine said work guaranteed for 24 months (annoyed they now don't care)

Yes I would ring him up as could be slow leak that's appearing now and a good plumber will come and take a look plus what have you got to loose in asking him

Depends on the contract and terms and conditions you signed
