Lockdown in the rain is even more shit.

Nothing open for children to do. Cinemas, swimming pools, the dreaded soft play, libraries, cafes all closed. No parties to drop off at. No play dates. No lunch out.

Weekend looks wet where we live. No doubt we'll do a welly walk in the woods but ugh.

Definitely, I live alone and so only chance to see people is outside.

No one wants to walks or picnics in the pouring rain :/

Its shit! Lockdown didn't seem too bad when it was sunny but I am bored sick now.

You’re living in the wrong country if you don’t like rain. We still go out walking on the beach, paddling in the sea when it’s raining.

It looks hot next week so I’m looking forward to that.

Why? Normally in this country when it’s raining we can go swimming, or out to a restaurant, or to a museum, or an indoor activity centre, or the cinema, or the theatre...

We’re 2.5 hours from the beach so that’s a no go. Walks in the rain are all very well but the 6, 4 and 1 year olds are a bit bored of them by now, as am I. It’s not a moral failing to not enjoy outdoor activities in the rain. There are usually plenty of indoor activities to keep us amused, after all.

I feel we've been incredibly lucky so far with the lockdown weather so I don't feel I can complain at the rain. Yes, I prefer the sun but we live in the UK so I don't let the rain stop me going out or else I'd go mad. I am going for a run very soon in it. My kids are't massively keen on going out in the rain but I make them anyway because they are teenagers and I won't let them sit staring at their screens all day. I tell them the amazing thing about human skin is that it's waterproof. They love me

I'm pleased it's raining - we've had basically sunny weather since start of March & whilst I enjoy sunny weather, I was getting bored of the blue sky! Plus my garden is happier...

I agree this is all so much harder to do in the rain.
All those things we would do to keep us occupied in bad weather are closed or you have to queue in the rain to get into them.
I have been out with the dog but it was miserable as it’s humid and wet not pleasant at all.
It is much easier to cope with this when you can get outside in the sunshine.

Nope, you're all wrong. I've FINALLY got some respite from the kids who live in the house behind us and are THE LOUDEST CHILDREN IN THE WORLD.

I also have kids, as do all our other kids, but the noise these kids make is on a different level. The boy also like to climb up his trampoline and watch us in our garden (I've yet to be quick enough to get him with the hose).

So I am loving sitting in the nursery at the moment with my son asleep on me, listening to the rain and birds chirping outside. Bliss.

Yes op not easy. Dog hyper here yest he used to outside! Could bring him nowhere. Hard keeping small kids on the go.

I've been out for a run in it today, but needed a shower and change of clothes straight away or I'd be frozen all day.

The DCs haven't been out in 2 days now. By the tine we finished home school yesterday, I got a long phonecall, then it began thundering and 90 minutes of torrential rain and lightning. Not exactly safe conditions for getting the bikes out as planned.

We walk to school regardless of weather (back when they went to school). They did very well when caught out by a torrential thunderstorm that dumped an inch of rain in 15 minutes while walking. But 7 & 9 year olds aren't that chuffed with yet another aimless meander with rain in their faces. Quite frankly, the walking is beyond tedious now anyway even in more pleasant conditions.

No young DC but agree it's much worse when it's pissing down.
Been loving sitting out the front with a glass of wine watching the world go by.
To cheer us up I've got a full roast dinner on the go

It's miserable here, we've got the windows open because it's so hot and sticky but the rain is relentless today

All of the lockdown-easing measures are weather-permitting only. I was pretty damn miserable queuing for Sainsbury's in the rain this afternoon. I can't imagine queueing for non-essentials outside somewhere like Topshop in this - I bet hardly any money was spent in stores today.

Imagine how hard it must be for families that live in flats. I don’t know how they’ve coped.

I live in a flat but don't mind the rain, it feels cosier and the flat doesn't get as hot (South facing windows). DS1 doesn't like going out in the rain and is happy enough playing with his trains all day. On sunny days I feel like I have to make the effort to take everyone out for fresh air and it's stressful social distancing.

I was looking forward to meeting a colleague for a walk tomorrow but now its looking unlikely.

It's been very unusual to have the sunshine we've had up here in the Lakes. This rain is more normal! Also it keeps my shitty, noisy neighbours and their screechy grandkids indoors. Peaceful bliss.

Unfortunately I imagine screechy grandkids is probably the result of them not being able to go to nursery/school/toddler groups/playgrounds/soft play/parks/anything else they normally do. Not condoning the screeching but it’s hard for kids too.

Unless you’re going to tell us they’re 16!

They look 10-13 years...it's not just screeching; it's the blood curdling screaming like someone is being murdered! That is not part of play, and their nanna has assured me they are all 'normal'. Only she used a much less acceptable word.

I whinge when it’s really hot but I much prefer that to rain and mud. I slipped on mud at least 4 times today on our daily hike. Very impressed with myself that I didn’t fall on my arse . Core exercises are obviously working. Hate muddy trainers and boots to deal with afterwards too!

I feel much better mentally on sunny days. Have been quite happy in the garden, walking and cycling during lockdown (even with 4 DC under my feet all day) until the weather changed.
