Temperature checks at airports and menopause

Doingtheboxerbeat · 17/06/2020 00:34

Sorry for random late thread but can anyone who is going through the menopause or peri menopause tell me if your temperature increases and if so how long does it last? Not currently experiencing any symptoms yet and my DM is no help because she's dramatic.
I'm 48 and still getting my period but I'm concerned about hot flushes and I'm imagining in the future being stop at airports because I have a raging temperature.
Is this even a thing to consider or should I just go to bed Grin?

I took my temperature mid hot flush a few weeks ago and was exactly my usual temp. YMMV.

mumoftwodc · 17/06/2020 00:38

I've never taken my temperature during a flush bit this question did cross my mind a few weeks ago when I was suffering badly so it'll be interesting to see the responses.

HamsterHolder · 17/06/2020 01:39

Probably just goto bed. :) or have a couple of paracetamol prior to travel to pass the checks

DramaAlpaca · 17/06/2020 01:42

If your temperature increases during perimenopause and menopause it's not to feverish levels, so I really wouldn't give this another thought. I certainly haven't.

TheHighestSardine · 17/06/2020 01:42

Hot flushes are a skin vasodilation thing, not a core temperature thing - you'll be fine.

Nonameslob · 17/06/2020 03:52

No, your body temperature isn't high during a hot flush. You feel like it must be but as poster above said it's not your core body temperature that's affected during a hot flush.

DarkMutterings · 17/06/2020 03:56

I'm menopausal, living in a tropical country with temperature checks at ever shop/building/office - so far never been too high to go in whether having a hot flush or sweating through the heat and humidity. You should be fine.
However I would say - masks and hot flushes are the devils work.

Oh thank you all, I have way too much time to think and I'm still up Hmm.

I’ve been wondering the same thing myself so thanks for asking this. I tried taking my temperature mid flush but by the time I’ve got the bloody thing in my mouth the moments passed 😳

ZaraW · 17/06/2020 06:16

I'm living in a hot country going through menopause. My temperature has been high on a number of occasions. You are made to wait a few minutes and then checked again.

fallfallfall · 17/06/2020 06:25

The hot flushes don't burn extra calories either...

DisplayPurposesOnly · 17/06/2020 07:49

Hot flushes are not a guaranteed feature so you may not get any.

cochineal7 · 17/06/2020 07:53

Haha this exact thought crossed my mind when actually at the airport the other day. And I do get hot flushes now and then. Was already picturing myself trying to explain it.

Eliza72 · 17/06/2020 08:04

We are taking temperatures daily. Took my temp after a particularly gruelling YouTube exercise session, just out of interest. Was disappointed to see it was normal even though I was dripping sweatShock

Defaultuser · 17/06/2020 08:28

Haha I asked my nurse the same thing as they are taking temps before you get in hospital. I figured you can take temps to see if you are ovulating so there must be something in it. She said you wouldn't reach fever levels though. Hope you got to sleep eventually!
