To think this is a little unfair

So have an OU interview for apprenticeship.

45 minute written assessment/exercise which will have to be done with camera on in teams.

Women organising accidentally sent all the candidates the questions last week (choice is 6/7) , said she would get different questions. We were asked to delete the questions.

Today says questions will stay the same but we will be told which one we have to do.

AIBU to think this is unfair and puts us at a disadvantage of securing a place (which are limited) due to her mistake?

My deleted folder deletes everything when I close outlook.

Oof. Fatal mistake.

BluebellForest836 · 16/06/2020 23:12

I can’t believe you actually deleted it without reading it...

I know she asked and maybe I’m abnormal but I still would of read it and just left it in my emails..

Am I the only one that would do this?

So yes op you are probably at a disadvantage now.

I think it’s part of the interview. A test of some kind ...

Sentry70 I agree, tutors are a hit and miss,, same with tutorials.

When my module opens in october, I 1st go to the module forum where there are lots of introductions etc. There are always invitations to join module WhatsApp chat groups which are amazing help. You can ask around who the good tutors are, who is terrible, who has had tutor changes because they weren't happy, and most importantly who does the best tutorials. So when I book my tutorials I book for the recommended tutors as well as my own.

Problem with the OU is not all the tutors are as involved as others, they have their own interpretation of the rules and marking and of the assessment requirements so this causes alot of frustration. Module fb groups are also great help.

But the OU are amazing at fixing problems. Despite being warned submitting assessments during the grace period, the site crashed last year because everyone decided to submit just before midnight. Thousands couldnt submit so instead of the OU penalising everyone under the rules, they fixed the site and gave everyone an extra day to do their assessment. Our final exam was cancelled because of covid, people panicked because this is where their final Mark's would be achieved so the ou let everyone redo their submitted assessment to get higher marks or submit a form to get previous assessments with lower marks scored higher.

So they ready do have student's backs when there are issues. But yes, individual tutors are problematic. On the plus side, each year it's a different tutor lol.

Thanks for the info @BuffyTheBuffetSlayer, very useful to know that .

Sentry70 Just reread my post and I'd better clarify. After going through the module forum and joining the module WhatsApp group invites, it is in the WhatsApp groups you can ask about good and bad tutors, tutorials etc. Not the module forum itself. It is overseen by 2 moderators who will defend all tutors to the end Grin
