Not to send DD back to school as she’s leaving anyway

We will move house over the summer, so the kids will start at a new school from September. hopefully schools will be back.

The year groups for my three kids are not back at their current school, but we’ve just heard that the school will take my youngest in reception for the last four weeks of term

We’re considering not sensing her as we think it might upset her to meet her friends again then have to say goodbye for ever. She’s not really missed them over lockdown (she has two big sisters so loads of company) and she won’t even have her old teacher or classroom back due to all the social distancing.

Yanbu I would do the same tbh

In your circumstances I wouldn't send her as it's not a great benefit for her to re-engage with teachers and friends. It would mean one less child that teachers would need to ensure was being socially distanced.

I would send her for the general benefit that education brings to kids. She will have the 6 week break to move on.

Keep her off. As you say, it may introduce problems socially where there are none at the moment. Four weeks is not going to make much difference to the academic side - by the time they've got them back in, established routine and found out where they've got to with their reading and so on, they won't have much time to move them forwards.

It would take me about 20 minutes to find out where a Reception child was with their reading, Ianthenum so that is a daft argument. If you trust the school to do their best for your daughter then you should send her.
