Sorry to post here I just really need urgent advice and experiences. I have to have an abortion. I'm already 11+6 and my area is only doing medical abortions due to COVID. I'm so so scared of going through this and the pain, does anyone have any experience of this they can share with me as I'm absolutely terrified. Thank you

The only one in Scotland is Spire in Edinburgh I believe but they charge a fortune. You could try contacting Marie Stopes, BPAS and NUPAS. Good luck. I think their prices are all much and such the same (my failed medical was at one of these, again, not their fault) and I remember kicking myself that the surgical really wasn’t that much more expensive and that I should have just gone for it. About £600 I think, but it does go up slightly beyond 12 weeks. Give them a call!

Really sorry OP but it’s totally wrong

I don’t know what to say just that you absolutely should have the option for surgical at your gestation. I thought medical was only up to 9 weeks for a reason and I feel awful for you that you don’t have the choice.

I haven't had a medical one I was with my pal while she did.
Get a hot water bottle, plenty of pain killers for the contractions.

I had a medical abortion at 9 weeks and although it was painful, it was "bearable" pain. A hot water bottle to the stomach really did help a lot - definitely make sure you have one. They give you codeine which helps, and I was told in my case that pethedine (stronger) could be given if I needed it so there will be strong pain killers available for you.

I'm not sure if it helps but when I woke up the next morning I felt fine physically - better than fine. No matter how bad it gets pain-wise, once the process is over you immediately feel physically well again. I could not move from the sofa during the process but he next day woke up feeling like I could have gone for a run, if I'd wanted to. The pain passes very quickly x

Also, as awful, awful as it sounds terminations are simply an induced miscarriage. And very sadly women do suffer these all too often without any pharmacy-level painkillers at all.

I've had a medical abortion OP. I too was warned it would be painful. It wasn't painful at all. I was approximately 7 weeks pregnant so I don't know if that had any bearing on pain levels but it was fine. Very mild period cramps for a little while but not bad - I was able to get on with my day looking after my DC.

Take care Flowers

I helped someone through this recently.
She was in a bit of pain on day 2 but otherwise it was pretty painless for her.
Everyone is different though.
