He was in the shower this morning and it started leaking through the ceiling (again 3rd time since january) now ok the shower being crap is not his fault but he knows he has to be careful and not be in there for long and he is always in there for ages. DS is unwell and has had all the calpol he can have in 24 hours so I phoned the doc this morning and asked for a call back as I thought it was unnecessary for DS to see a doc and they always treat me like a stupid paranoid mother when i take him. call came while i was in the loo so dp (who had previously told me there was ni way ds needed a docs appt) demanded an appt rather than asking for advice. while he was on hold i explained to him that i did not want an appt but wanted advice. So instead of explainig that when they came back on the phone he accepted the appt which I will now have to take ds to as dp doesn't drive and is very unwell himself. grrr very upset with dp for not listening and very stressed about having to go and deal with patronising arsehole doctor who will tell me there was no need to bring ds in as he just has a cold. sorry this is very long, having very bad day, week, month, year

Ring them back, cancel the appointment, and ask for advice then, else you are wasting your own time as well as theirs

I agree with gordie, they should be fine with it, especially as it saves them n appointment for someone else.
Have you given him nurofen??
Ibruprofen and paracetamol can be given at the same time.

Bewilderb hoping your day gets better. Agree with gordie you should cancel the appointment. Relieved to hear I'm not the only mum who hates patronising arsehold doctors and their receptionists

I don't think my GPs would be keen on giving advice over the phone regarding an ill child as they'd be too worried that they'd miss something. I tend to phone NHS direct in the situation where I think that an appointment is unnecessary, but I want some support/advice.

However, If your GP patronises you for taking an ill child in then I think that you should move to a different practice. I don't think that is acceptable.
