To ask if you think the shops will be busy tomorrow?

I live near a huge shopping centre.

DH thinks it'll be quiet. I think it'll be packed. Who do you think is right?

I think the McDonald's being packed is a good point. Our local ones still are, all times of day and night from reading the posts on Facebook.

Big new Primark opening tomorrow at the Trafford center. I think it will be packed.

Iamthewombat · 14/06/2020 22:59

I can’t wait to get to the shops. I won’t be going tomorrow though because, inconveniently, I have to work. However, long separation from clothing, shoe and make-up outlets is causing my salary to burn holes in my pockets. I don’t think that today’s exhortations to go back to the shops were needed!

Bloops · 14/06/2020 22:59

I vote busy

Needaripeavocado · 14/06/2020 23:02

I think for the popular retail outlets it will be quite busy, and will be queues outside, i would avoid pokey little shops though where you cant social distance

Starbuggy · 14/06/2020 23:05

Packed! Look at the queues when Ikea reopened! (I didnt go, I saw them online)

People are bored, they will grab the opportunity to do anything different, even if it’s essentially the same as they’ve been doing for 3 months (standing in a queue to go in a shop... but a different shop is a novelty apparently)

Atthebottomofthegarden · 14/06/2020 23:13

Not sure, I can’t say I have any particular desire to go to shops with no changing rooms and no public loos! (Though is that really correct in shopping centre? Surely not!)

nanbread · 14/06/2020 23:21

I don't think they'll be busy. Most shops on high street are clothing and no one really needs new clothes when they're not going out or on holiday, plus easy to buy online. B&Q and Ikea are different, everyone is doing up their houses and it's hard to buy some stuff online, and people are sick of coming for themselves hence maccy D's popularity.

PumpkinP · 15/06/2020 00:27

People will just be going for a day out/ to have something to do. So doesn’t matter if people actually need something.

FleurDaxeny · 15/06/2020 00:32

Primark doesn't deliver, so should be a huge hit. Not sure why anyone would bother with other shops that have been delivering all along, but people do.

AnimalCrossing · 15/06/2020 00:33

I don’t want to queue so I’ll be waiting a bit longer. But I might nip to my local primarni for a nose. If no queue.

Oldsu · 15/06/2020 00:42

@101stNC

I think it'll be packed, esp shops like Primark. I won't be going there anytime soon but I am hoping the charity shops local to me will be less busy as i have bags of donations to take which are getting in the way.
A lot of charity shops will not be open most of the high street ones like Salvation Army BHF etc are opening in phases with only the larger shops opening tomorrow, as someone who is married to a charity shop manager, can I ask you politely not to take your bags in the first day and to phone or pop in and ask if they are taking donations, donations will have to be quarantined for 72 hours and with less volunteers some shops wont be able to cope with large quantities and may have to restrict the number of donations they can take and may have to refuse donations or only take them on certain days. Its a whole new ball game and it wont be the same as before lockdown
AgeLikeWine · 15/06/2020 00:45

Shops will be packed tomorrow. Anyone with any sense will wait at least a week before going anywhere near them. Let the brainless idiots queue for hours to get into Primark.

Leaannb · 15/06/2020 00:57

@Iwantacookie.....I would call first before going to return something. Most major retailers are not accepting returns right now.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 15/06/2020 01:13

Some will be busy, others not.
I'm not fussed - I haven't needed anything I've not been able to buy on the internet, and I'm working anyway,

I did spend hours trying to get zoo tickets in the week though.
Thursday 🐧Grin 🐧

Rumbletumbleinmytummy · 15/06/2020 02:01

I think itll be packed.
DD was saying earlier PRIMARK IS OPEN TOMORROW!!!!
I replied, yep, but we wont be going. The queues will be as bad as Disney and we live in one of the hardest hit areas of the UK. No way will I be braving shopping for clothes etc for a few months yet.

Whattodowhattodooo · 15/06/2020 02:21

@ItsInTheShed

Hear, hear!

My Sister is the manager of a high street, but on a business park, store. They are busy normally. Hate to think what it's going to be like for her over the next few days. There's always arseholes, but I imagine there will be a few more.

It's because of this that I will not be doing any such shopping for the foreseeable. Couldn't stand the queuing!!!

BalthazarImpresario · 15/06/2020 02:49

Packed, I'm a primark whore and bed done bits but I'm avoiding for a while as I dislike people when I'm shopping at the best of times, only usually go mid week mornings when it's empty pre covid.

Ds starts back at work this week and I how people are respectful

BalthazarImpresario · 15/06/2020 02:50

*need some not bed done ffs

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 15/06/2020 06:17

I hope it’s not packed!
I have 5 shops on my shopping wish list! 😂😂

Bluesheep8 · 15/06/2020 06:27

Packed. I won't be going anywhere near for a while. And I'm a self confessed shopaholic. I'm actually frightened to. I haven't left the village I live in for 3 months apart from attending a hospital appointment Confused

Oysterbabe · 15/06/2020 06:32

I think there will be fewer people than an average day pre Covid but will have the appearance of being packed because of the queues. If I was working in town rather than from home I'd probably go for a wander round.

Whattodowhattodooo · 15/06/2020 07:28

Just spoken to my sister. She feels physically sick with nerves!! They open at 8.30 this morning. She's in a huge out of town, business park shop. She's only allowed 50 people in at one time. Queues snaking around car park!! 🙈

ButteryPuffin · 15/06/2020 07:57

Flowers to all the retail workers going back in. It's going to be packed today.

Milssofadoesntreallyfit · 15/06/2020 08:22

Packed, people near me queued 4 hrs just to have a look round IKEA. Some have been kicking off in the McDonald's queue as some one nipped their car in before theirs and got their bignac first. Some have been queuing on the hard shoulder of a motorway in a half mile long queue for McDonald's too.

Quite pathetic but that's probably a complete whole new thread.
I do want to go, but have no intention until the above described people have stopped behaving like that. Could be a week or two.
