On the back of another thread, do you think you can say yes these lips have fillers or no they don’t?

Answers on a postcard....

For everyone saying the lips are wonky or uneven...aren’t all lips uneven? My (unfillered) lips are a little uneven.

I’ve been asked if I have mine done before which is kind of annoying as I’ve always been really happy with them and felt lucky for it.

I must admit that I can’t really tell from the OP. Most subtly filled but obvious lips look unnatural at the bottom part of the top lip where they meet in the middle to me.

diddl · 13/06/2020 09:05

Did I miss the Op saying whether or not the pics were of filled lips or not?

Quarantimespringclean · 13/06/2020 09:05

People also say you can always tell if someone’s had Botox. My own mum has said it to me and did not believe me when I told her I’d been having regular Botox for a couple of years.

Unless someone is actively pursuing the ‘fake’ look you can’t tell if they have had good Botox or fillers or any sort of aesthetic intervention. When it’s blindingly obvious that someone has had work done then it wasn’t done well enough. Unless of course they want the ‘fake’ look that is very fashionable at the moment.

At the clinic I go to there are several doctors who do the treatments. If you want a natural look any of the doctors can treat you but if someone wants to look fake one doctor is recommended as specialising in that look.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 13/06/2020 09:06

I can't tell from the photos and I think they look really nice.

As for uneven and bumpy, most people's lips are uneven and bumpy.

icansmellburningleaves · 13/06/2020 09:09

They look filled to me.

Goatinthegarden · 13/06/2020 09:10

Same, @PerfectionistProcrastinator, my lips are not filled, but are quite full and look uneven at the bottom.

I’ve seen plenty of obviously filled lips, but then I wouldn’t know how many naturally looking filled lips I’ve seen if they look natural.

Each to their own.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 09:11

Haven’t read all replies and fell asleep 😴

So yes they are my lips and no they haven’t been filled ever.

The light wasn’t great and I had to put lip gloss on as they were all cracked and dry (sorry if you’re eating breakfast) so I can understand why that makes them look filled as they look shiny

I can always tell because I lip read.

Doesn’t matter how subtle or well done the fillers, it changes the way your mouth forms words.*

Definitely. Some do look nice in photos but then as soon as the person forms any expression apart from a pout, or speaks you can definitely tell! I always think this about kylie jenner, she looks good in photos but when she laughs she looks really bizarre!

CornforthWhite · 13/06/2020 09:19

Haha love it OP! I love that you haven’t had them filled when so many said it was obvious!

That said, on the whole, when you speak to/ sit opposite someone you can generally tell. But does that really matter - we all like different things.

Pinkfrangipani · 13/06/2020 09:20

The shape and size of the natural lips we are born with vary massively from person to person. Unfortunately we lose volume with age.
The ratio of the size of the top to bottom lip is also a genetic factor and varies between different ethnic groups.
When you attend for a consultation for lip filler, the anatomy of your lower face should be fully studied to establish how much volume your lips can take without looking unnatural and overfilled. This includes the projection of your chin and the shape of your nose for example.
An overfilled lip is never a good look. A good job should look completely natural, in keeping with your features.
You can tell the quality and qualification of your injector by how in depth your consultation is.
Anyone offering the 'Kylie Jenner' look to anyone and everyone is not trained sufficiently.

firsttimemum30 · 13/06/2020 09:21

Yes unnaturally puckered and it always looks like there's something under the skin above the top lip- because there is.

RUOKHon · 13/06/2020 09:21

I don’t think you can always tell. My friend is an aesthetician and the pics of her work on her Facebook page is soooo subtle. She’s a miracle worker. I’m lucky, I’ve got full lips already, but I’ve been thinking about going to her for some Botox and I guarantee you, you wouldn’t be able to tell if I’d had it done.

firsttimemum30 · 13/06/2020 09:22

Grin I stand corrected. They do look like they have been filled though! Not in a bad way.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 09:25

Yeah I am a bit shocked that the vast majority thought they were filled. I suppose it goes to show it is tricky to tell or not unless it’s overdone- but then that’s what mine must look like 😂

Warpdrive · 13/06/2020 09:25

I can tell when someone is talking if they've had fillers. The lips simply dont move the same way, so even if I cant tell from a photo, I would be able to tell from watching them move.

For some people I think they make such a difference, women with very thin lips can really make a difference and boost their confidence. I've seen that first hand. But there are always those who take it too far!

firsttimemum30 · 13/06/2020 09:26

I hope you don't mind but I want to play Grin excuse my shiny face, 6 month old no time to wash my face yet.

Firsttimemum no i dont think yours are filled.

Houseplantmad · 13/06/2020 09:33

Yes, hard definition on the top lip outline.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 09:33

@firsttimemum30

Hmm it’s actually hard to tell because they are full lips but at the same time they look natural? I’m going to say no?

OP posts:
NameChange84 · 13/06/2020 09:33

This thread has made me paranoid that people might think I’ve had fillers. I got bullied about my lips at school. They are just very full, I’m light skinned mixed race. I’d never do any of the fake stuff (Botox, fillers etc. I’m not even keen on fake nails or hair dye! I just hate the “fake” look.

2007Millie · 13/06/2020 09:35

@firsttimemum30

Yes, can't remember the name of them, Russian lips?

Starcup · 13/06/2020 09:36

@NameChange84

I thought it was ‘obvious’ who had an who hadn’t had fillers but actually I’m actually eating my words as it’s not easy to tell.

People will probably be envious of your lips now and think they’re lovely.

@2007Millie

What are Russian lips?
