Wanting a bean to cup coffee machine

chillimartini · 11/06/2020 17:31

Not really a AIBU question but here we are...I am looking for a good quality coffee machine. It has to be compact as space is a major issue. I am willing to spend up to £400 but would be happy not to. Could anyone recommend any that they have experience using? X

Love ours. It's a little noisy but makes epic coffee.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 11/06/2020 20:09

We have this one and I sometimes think I love it more than my husband Bean to Go [[https://www.dualit.com/products/beantogo]]

It was on special offer a little while ago to come under #400 though, so you might need to hunt around.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 11/06/2020 20:10

Meh. Link Fail. Dualit Bean to Go will get you tehre

BobbinThreadbare123 · 11/06/2020 20:11

I've got the Lakeland one www.lakeland.co.uk/61784/Lakeland-Bean-to-Cup-Coffee-Machine-Black
It is genuinely excellent. Good value and cost per cup is very low indeed. It's very small as well; doesn't take up much worktop space.

Hassled · 11/06/2020 20:29

Another Delonghi Caffe Corso here - it's not quiet, but I love it. Also makes for great compost.

CanIDigIt · 11/06/2020 20:35

This market has gone bananas

13 years ago I bought the Siemens brand new for £450

4 years ago I bought a Phillips brand new for £380

Both have been upgraded to this!

They die with limescale despite proper care

Yet another Delonghi Caffe Corso user here, I love it.

BlueJava · 11/06/2020 20:39

We have a Delonghi - it's used by the 4 of us several times a day and we love it!

jay55 · 11/06/2020 20:40

I've friends with the cusinart and it's brilliant, though a bit noisy when grinding.

@berryhead2013 the EU have been against having hot plates in coffee machines and encouraged insulated jugs instead on environmental grounds.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 11/06/2020 20:44

I have a Melitta Cafe Solo. It's 5/6 years old & absolutely brilliant. Gorgeous coffee & easy to use. Cleans itself after each use & tells you when to do a full clean & descale. Can't fault it. Cost us approx £330.

imjustanerd · 11/06/2020 20:53

Lakeland have them

I have a delonghi cafe corso which is 2 years old and still the love of my life. Other love of my life, DP, is a coffee fanatic and is gearing up to buy one for his place because he likes the coffee Della makes so much.

Brefugee · 11/06/2020 22:34

@AliBear90
would you say it’s worth it?
Yes - i found that a cafétiere uses far too much coffee for the number of cups you get from it.
I must admit that i do like a nice cup of filter coffee (from a machine) - but it's not worth making a whole pot for one mug in the morning.
With the bean-to-cup i get as much or as little coffee as I want at exactly the strength i want - and so does everyone else who wants one.

It makes a pretty good espresso - although it's not one of the really posh ones with an extra part for espresso beans.

nevermorelenore · 11/06/2020 22:52

I use this one. ao.com/product/22000-russell-hobbs-chester-grind--brew-filter-coffee-machine-black-35210-67.aspx

Only £65 and it has been good so far! You can make a massive pot of coffee and then programme is to stay warm all morning, so it's nice at the weekend. I'm a coffee snob, so love the taste of freshly ground beans rather than ground coffee. The only downside is that I live in a hard water area so I need to descale a lot.

UserFriendly14 · 11/06/2020 22:54

@Shoxfordian

I have a delonghi autentica I really like it but it's very demanding
Haha I always think this about my Delonghi when the bucket/tray need emptying and the water refilling in the same cycle!
LightDrizzle · 11/06/2020 22:55

I’ve had a De Longhi ECAM something for a couple of years and it’s brilliant. You have to clean it and change filters every so often but it tells you when you need to.

I makes great coffee. I hate the thought if the pods, so wasteful.
It was well under £400 I think.

PigletJohn · 11/06/2020 23:28

Delonghi Corsa, seems great. Quite big.

I like coffee strong so warm the milk in the microwave. The milk steamer makes it a bit watery.

Spanglybangles · 11/06/2020 23:35

Delonghi Magnifica in our house. Used several times daily, makes a lovely latte. I bought for OH’s birthday. I used to rarely drink coffee.....

NookIsACrook · 12/06/2020 00:03

I have the delongi magnifica and while I like it, it feels very cheap for £230, the knobs are plastic and have come off a few times.

TerrorWig · 12/06/2020 00:37

@Anyonebut it's hot but not boiling. It cools down too quickly - I microwave the milk because it's too much of a faff to use the heated milk thing on the machine Grin.

k1233 · 12/06/2020 04:18

I've got one of these. Takes up hardly any bench space and makes a great coffee

www.delonghi.com/en-au/products/coffee/coffee-makers/pump-espresso/dedica-style-ec-685m-0132106164

k1233 · 12/06/2020 04:21

Mine is 5 years old. A year or two back the steamer wand got a leak. Delonghi were absolutely fabulous. It was just out of warranty but they fixed it for free as a warranty claim.

It's a great machine, ready to use really quickly and you can get the milk super hot. The only thing I'd like is for the milk foamer to be a little bit longer, but it still foams good.

DilemmaDame · 12/06/2020 04:44

I remember the last time we did this thread and someone said 'would you consider a nespresso? We love ours'.

= Mumsnet. Triggered.

DilemmaDame · 12/06/2020 04:47

In terms of helpful advice I have the older / less lux model of the Dedica above and it's fab (we use ground coffee and beans in a hand grinder when we can be arsed). V small and compact for our flat, no bigger than a kettle. Great wee machine but one day in the dream house I'll be getting a bean to cup bad boy

Ritascornershop · 12/06/2020 04:59

We have a Gaggia, it’s brilliant, doesn’t need much attending to, we make about 5-6 cups a day, the flavour is perfect, it also steams milk. It lets us know when the drip tray needs emptying, when it needs more beans, more water etc. Life is so easy without faffing around w a French press.
